Georgia (as well as many other states) had almost run out of flu vaccine, so a purchase was made from an Arkansas company who promised to deliver 1000,000 doses before Christmas. Our state was getting pretty desperate after 7 flu related deaths of children and flu in general being of epidemic proportions.
It turns out that it was fraud and the vaccine never arrived.
GA officials had supposedly checked everything out before placing the order, but obviously not thoroughly enough.
