A big announcement regarding one of Nascar’s most popular races, and certainly one of the Tri-Cities most beloved sporting events, will be made today.

Bristol Motor Speedway President, Bruton Smith, and Food City representatives will make an announcement concerning March’s Food City 500 at 3 p.m.
What will be said is still unclear at this point.

Over 100,000 people go to BMS every year to watch this race at the world’s fastest half-mile oval.
News Channel 11 will keep you updated on this big announcement today coming out of BMS.

They've cancelled the race because no one is buying the unbought tickets. :D

Seriously, I have no idea what this is about. I'll have to check it out at 3:00 to see what this is. Just probably some new promotion to spur on ticket sales.

most likely. They're pussing the quad 4 pack for $99 at TMS. 4 seats, 4 hotdogs, 4 drinks, and 4 of something else.

I'm not holding my breath.

He's probably just announcing some promotion. Word would've gotten out about anything major by now.

I don't know if it is the same announcement or not but I heard this morning that Food City will be selling Spring Tickets at their stores.

That tells you how bad they are hurting to sell unsold tickets. They've never had to do this in a long time, so it's thrown them off. It would help if they would stop forcing fans to buy NNS tickets with the Cup tickets if you want both Cup races. That's why I finally dropped mine this year. With what I was losing each year on dumping those things, I could have spent the difference and bought terrace level seats off the street.

I got two Nationwide tickets for last year's NNS @ Richmond because I was going to go down with Carly before she had her accident (the first of two friends to suffer serious injuries in a car accident last year).

I couldn't even give that extra ticket away.

The Richmond fall race didn't sell out for the first time since 1986.

And the Daytona 500 still has not sold out. Folks, we're bracing for a hurting. Good thing NASCAR doesn't blackout TV broadcasts like the NFL does.

is there anything that says they wont start doing blackouts at all?

and the tickets ain't getting any cheaper, my 4 season tickets (4 spring cup and busch, 4 fall cup and busch) were $1,223.00 this year
