For anybody interested in going to Cup race at Atlanta

My nephew picked up our tickets about 3 months ago. I've been getting emails about 2 for one prices. My brother said my ticket was $39. If my nephew knows what he's talking about, those are the seats we used to pay $118 for. I'm thinking they are having trouble selling seats. They better not be crappy seats. It isn't worth going if you have a crappy seat.

Dang, I just ordered my tickets last week and had to pay full price. Eh, oh well. I'll get over it.

Call them.

I ordered spring tickets for Martinsville as soon as they became available for sale. A couple months later I got an email with all kinds of specials offered when purchasing spring tickets. I called up the ticket office and they adjusted the price as well as giving us pre-race track passes and hospitality passes for before the event. They want to work with their customers. They need to work with the customers.

I would imagine ticket sales will be slow until the week of the race until people have a better idea what the weather will be like. It might be 70 or it might be 40.

Worse.. it might rain.

They should be racing in the rain. ;)

Hey, it was only a matter of time.
I've seen jet dryers race in the rain.

That still probably isn't cheap unless they came down a lot on prices. Last I remember AMS tickets for a Cup Race was really high compared to most tracks.

This will be my first race at Atlanta. Any tips, recommendations, etc?

$24 is $24 dollars :D

I think this is $24 dollars off tho, and I checked the cheapest is I think $86 bucks which isn't to bad I guess for a Cup Race. I just didn't check where it would be at. I might see if my dad wants to check it out tho.

There's not a lot going on at the track other than the races, just the usual track stuff. We grill, troll the haulers, get pit passes, hang out at the airport, dirt kicking stuff. There are probably some good places to eat on 19 but we don't like getting out in the traffic so we say put for the most part. I'm not sure what kind of tips you are looking for.

Ya know, I never even thought of that. It is definitely true that the tracks are having trouble selling tickets, so I'm sure they'll do all they can not to lose customers. How would they adjust the price though if you already paid for it through ticket master?

I don't know about Ticket Master. I always buy them direct from the track.

My brother does that a lot. Couple of years ago, he had trouble getting through to Daytona so he called Talladega. Got through right away and got good tickets for Daytona.

I've never tried buying tickets off of anyone but the track.

Me either. And I make sure that the person that I'm talking to is at that particular track so they have the correct answers to my questions. When I called Michigan for tickets a few weeks ago I got a ticket seller at the corporate headquarters in Daytona so I said thanks but no thanks. I called the Michigan tracks business number and the receptionist connected me with the onsite ticket office and I spoke to the Manager who answered all of my questions and I bought some great tickets. The same thing happened at Homestead last week and I have tickets reserved for when they go on sale. We drive too far and invest too much time and money to take chances on being disappointed.

OK, this is NOT what I want to hear this close to the race!

I have been to a bunch of races at Atlanta, go prepared for all weather. I use to go to the spring races before they changed to labor day and stopped because I froze my butt off too many times. If it is cold, the stands are very cold, because of the dominate west / northwest winds. If you sit under the covered front stretch it is way loud. Ingres and egress is way better now than it used to be. If you need a hotel look at hotels 15 to 20 miles from track just South of Atlanta on I-75, good prices and easy to get to track.

Well, order directly from the track...lesson learned. I called the speedway and they said they couldn't do anything about it and that I'd have to call Ticketmaster. We all know how crappy ticketmasters customer service is, so I guess I'll just deal with it this time and know to order from the speedway from now on.
