If Ford would to build the new Ford Fusion to look like the COT would any of you guys buy one, or would it sell at all?

If they made a street-legal car that had some of the safety innovations the COT has, it would definitely be worth buying. I fear getting killed in a car accident on the Crapital Beltway :eek2:

I'd buy any of the cars with a COT wing on the back. They use the Impala with the wing as the pace car for several races. I think it looks sweet.

The reason I thought of this is until the COT the cars bodies looked kinda like the street cars they represented so why not reverse that thought build a car or cars that look like the COT.

I have a Lincoln Town Car. The shifter is on the column. I prefer having the floor space in the front rather than a bulky console. Also, the console makes the seats smaller, and my bucket isn't a small bucket. LOL

Actually, the COT cars are much closer in appearence to their street versions then the old model cars.

There was a great interview on Wind Tunnel a couple weeks ago with the president of Ford Racing where he explained this. From a marketing standpoint, they can do more with the COT because it is a larger car, and the overall body is more like the street version of the Fusion.

It sounds like NASCAR is about to make some changes to the COT to make it more appealing. My big complaint about the old car is the way it was rounded, cabin slanted to the right side of the car, and flat nose with big fenders is looked like a cross between an old ASA car and a dirt late model.

If your going to spend that money get a car that will last like a BMW or Audi.

I currently own a Chevy and have had 2 Fords before it and I hate to say it but I'm done with American made cars. I recently drove a friends Honda, another friends BMW, my wifes Toyota and my sisters Acura and was blown away compared to the new stuff I test drove at the Ford, Dodge and Chevy dealerships.

Yeah, let's everyone go deep into debt and buy a good car. I guess my priorities are a bit less. Gettin' me to where I want to go in comfort is all I need. I've got two four year old cars that do the job just fine and will last a good long time as long as I take care of them. I'm working on getting them paid off so I can scream at Dave Ramsey. :)

My Lincoln is a 2001 with just over 105,000 miles. It runs like a top, and I make sure it continues to do so. I make sure it has regular oil changes and checkups.

You need to test drive the new Ford Taurus SHO.

The car in my avatar is what I drive. I bought it for a 1000 bucks then dropped another 4 grand into it. It's got all new suspension parts, engine refreshed on both the top and bottom, solid motor mounts, adjustable Koni's up front, Bondurant racing struts on the rear, a custom 2 and a half inch exhaust. It's the perfect sleeper this car will out run most Mustang GTs.

Here's our SHO's club Lemon's COT racer.

Motor is based on a older Yamaha/Ford design collaboration.

The engine was all designed by Yamaha (89 -95 gen 1 & 2s), the tranny by Mazda, the alternator by Mitsubishi. Ford designed the rest of the body. The engine in my sig is what a SHO engine (89-95) looks like minus the powder coating. The 96 thur 99 (gen 3s) SHOs engines were all designed by Ford (that's why they were a piece of crap) that's why Ford ended up payin' millions back to owners for broken cams that totally trashed the engines. Ford should have contracted out to Yamaha to design the V8 that was in the gen 3s, would of ended up saving them money.
