Ford Pushes Dodge; Burton disagrees

After his planned pit stop went awry when he spun on pit road, #12-Ryan Newman ran his tank dry with the extra mile he had to go to come back around for gas. He received some unexpected help from Ricky Rudd, who pushed him most of the way around with his #21 Ford. Once on pit road, one of Newman’s Penske Racing teammates, Brendan Gaughan, provided similar assistance. Driver #99-Jeff Burton, who like Rudd drives a Ford, criticized Rudd for assisting Newman, who drives a Dodge. Said Rudd: "He was out of gas. Our spotter said to push him. I didn’t think about it."(ThatsRacin.com)...kudos to Rudd and the spotter!

I did think it was odd that a Ford would push a Dodge, but Ryan might also remember the favor and help or give Ricky an assist sometime. Drivers will remember the good and the bad things.

If it's within the rules and it doesn't involve Burton, he should consider minding his own business. People have been pushing him around tracks for the past 4 years.

the engines are the difference in manufacturer, not the men driving them, I don't want to get into my opinions of Jeff Burton, but it seems odd that he might not have helped someone out, I thought he was a nice guy...strange. WWWD? What would Ward Do?

LOL--I said about the same thing on another Board. Ol Burton got lucky being wheer he wound up (As did most) but he should concentrate more on his driving than worrying about who pushes who. Of course, in his defense, he had plenty of time to think about it while NASCAR tried to figure out how to score a race :)

I'm really surprised Jeff said that, maybe he should've let that comment go unsaid.

I was surprised that Rudd did it.. but then again im fairly new to the sport and i don't remember ever seeing that before, let alone with 2 drivers helping 1 out. But i don't see a problem with it and Burton should remember what he said if he ever needs help and there's only a dodge there to help

Rudd is truly a class act That was awesome what he did
total sportsmanship

You have to remember who Burton drives for...I'm sure he's not used to being around too much "sportsmanship".
