FOX interested in side-by-side commercials

Side by side commercials? That would suck. It's bad enough watching one at a time, and now we'll have to watch 2? ;)

It looks like we are finally heading that way after all these years of asking for this.

I guess the sagging television ratings have scared the networks. ESPN just had this serious, and evidently contagious, case of "do **** right" last year when they adopted Nonstop and then followed that up by putting Allen Bestwick in the booth. Now, FOX is making decent moves. Hopefully they put a muzzle on Jaws and Little Jaws though.

Wasn't it Virus that had side by side racing/commercials 1st?

When was that. I remember ABC carrying the 1994 Brickyard 400 and NBC carrying the 1999 and 2000 Miami races with the race in a small screen PIP during commercials.

It doesn't matter though, the fans will still whine. They whined about ESPN Nonstop because "the screen the race was on wasn't big enough". Commercials do irritate me, especially on TNT (actually, every part of TNT's NASCAR coverage irritates the piss out of me :)), so I'll enjoy side-by-side.

In Europe I remember watching races maybe a year or two back, not NASCAR, but Formula One, and what they did was continuously play the race but did banner ads like on a website along the side every once in a while. I thought that was a good format, I doubt that would ever fly here in the States though.
