Other than not getting the pre race show as DE Wrangler 2 said, what was everyones take on Fox's coverage. I thought they did a wonderful job. Much better than the last few years. They showed cars running up front, middle and back of the pack. I still don't like DW but that is jus tmy opinion. If they continue to cover races like this I hope they renew their contract.

:salute: Our Troops

 Roush Racing

Fox is great, TNT is great, FX is great, NBC is great..... like I said before, I'm just glad its on TV!

Speaking of coverage... how stupid do these networks/nascar think the fans are? Joe Ruttman runs ONE lap and goes behind the wall with absolutely NO explanation why. No interview, no cameras...nothing.

These guys are running nascar more like government every friggin' race. Tell people the damn truth.

I have an old Astro van that would make ONE lap around rockingham for what....40 grand?

Ruttman made the field, beating out two other cars.

NASCAR ordered him off the track after one lap, with the reason given as he had no pit crew.

Make of it what you will.

I hear ya' possum.

Apparently Wallace was in the same predicament.

What is this about no prerace coverage? Fox did 30 minutes of coverage before the race. IMO thats 20 minutes too much. Get me any headlines and then show me some racing.

I think Fox does a pretty good job. I agree with the comment about just being glad that it is on TV. I'd watch even if QVC was doing coverage! I have to say that after a few hours DW does start to wear on my nerves.

I'm glad the Fox guys are on. I'm not a big fan of DW, but atleast he knows what he's talking about. How many times do the guys on NBC have to correct BP. Just can't stand BP.

Last season, Jaws went on for almost five minutes about how loose a certain car was. He really went to town on it. A few minutes later, the crew chief found a microphone stuck in his mug and was asked about the car. He replied that it was so tight the driver couldn't turn it.

But Jaws knows what he's talking about. Yeah right. He was an idiot when he drove, and he's only gotten worse. If he could drive 1/10 as well as he can run his everlovin mouth he'd have 20 championships.

why don't you tell us how you really feel possum,
but i tend to agree have never liked DW like the country song goes "let's talk about me' fits DW to a tee

I'm just glad they were showing the race in widescreen, although not in true HD (only 480p). I hope NBC carries on with true HDTV broadcasts. Overall I like FOX/FX braodcast more than the NBC/TNT iterations. Aside fromt he commentator issues, I really like the scrolling lineup ticker FOX uses as opposed to the "three at a time" one the NBC uses. I also like the cut away car. Small things, I know, but it's what I like. Now if they would make DW a "sideline" guy It would be almost perfect.

Personally, I prefer Fox to NBC, despite JAWS. I actually find him amusing at times and can barely tolerate BP for a whole race. "Jaime McMary" drives me nuts!
On the other hand, if it weren't on the tube, no matter what channel, there wouldn't be the growth in fan base we have seen the past few years. My $.02

Why does every coverage debate end up BP vs. DW????? Some people like them, some people hate them.

I only saw the last half of the race, but I think they did a good job of not just follow the leader. Granted as the race gets closer to the end it should be more about the leaders.

you guys see hwo they did pitstop coverage with the camera angles so you could see who was goin by the cars as they left, i though it was really good, along with the car lengths away, tahts pretty sweet

Well, I think it's like the John Madden :captive: thing. From most people I know it's about a 50/50 split on Madden. I personally can't stand his commentating and will generally avoid MNF unless it's a really good matchup. Other love him to death. Every sport seems to have those guys. Then again..who can really stand Bill Walton? :p

Commentators have a way of polarizing the audience one way or another. In the case of NASCAR, each network has a guy that is annoying to (apparently) about half their demographic. But, unlike football, I won't skip a race because of it, but it does influence my broadcast preference. I can't tell you how many times BP says something that is either idiotic, or completley wrong (especially when identifyng car numbers) and it takes me right out of the action for a moment.

But, like others have said, it's nice that we are able to watch every race (no matter who is up in the booth).

THROW IT DOWN BIG MAN, THROW IT DOWN :p

I really don't mind either one, I just try to tune DW out when he talks, I couldn't help but hear him talking about how some "cats" were getting around the track this way and thata way. I did not see any CATS on the track DW. :p

EMP...........man you nailed it that time!! My sentiments almost to tee!! :D

DW makes it fun and so does BP. Mute it if ya don't wanna hear it... these little coverage debates are getting about as bad as Jr cheating at Daytona. It's all a crock of sh!t.

Pardon my language, but I can't think of any other way to put it... atleast I edited it! lol.

I totally agree that it's quite easy to press mute.

It's also just as easy to not click on posts that complain about the coverage.
