The nasty court battle between Brian and Megan France has come to an end.

At one time they were NASCAR’S golden couple. He was the CEO, and she was the wife and mother.

They married for a second time in October of 2005, had a couple of kids in 2006, and the fairy tale came to an end in April of 2008. Since then, they have battled it out in court over money.

For years, much of that legal fight was hidden to the public because a judge sealed the France file.

The Observer and news partner NBC Charlotte waged a lengthy court battle to open the file, finally winning in May. The news partners had argued the public has a right to open courts and files.

The documents provided a glimpse into NASCAR’S finances through its chairman.

Documents showed that Brian France was worth half a billion dollars with homes in Charlotte and Florida, in addition he was entitled to three condos in Los Angeles worth $4 million, three condos in Florida worth $1.8 million, a condo in New York’s Central Park valued at $10.6 million; even the maid gets a $780,000 condo.

Under the separation agreement, Megan France is left far from broke. She gets $32,000 a month in alimony, $100,000 a year for a nanny, a $3.2 million home in Myers Park, and a $9 million payment for keeping the children in the Charlotte area.

All of this money was flowing at the same time NASCAR was asking for public money to build the Hall of Fame in uptown.

On Sept. 26 the two sides filed a dismissal agreement reaching a private settlement out of court.

We don’t know the details of that settlement, because it was negotiated behind closed doors in an avenue that would not be available to anyone.

from here

They only let the two main attorneys into the negotiations, however after one attorney was caught lying or stretching the truth a bit, they decided to let them all in. LOL Just joking:rolleyes:

I don't see what any of this has to do with racing . It might as well be John Travolta and Mary Tyler Moore , I wouldn't be interested , and it wouldn't give me any more insight into Nascar.

No offense but John Travolta and May Tyler Moore don't run NASCAR.

I didn't try to hide anything in the title. Did you find the title confusing?

Too be fair, I don't really see how the France's personal fiances figures into the NASCAR fiances. I mean, how does all of this...admittedly extravagant spending affect the sport?

Well now I understand why he/Nascar asked for taxpayer help building Homestead and fighting for changes in IRS rulings about depreciation.
Where's his next meal going to come from?
But he's no different than the owners of other sports entities.

Say that out loud three times and get back to me.

Whatever problems exist in the sport isn't really due to financial troubles. It's mostly due to corporation sellouts of the sport.

I don't see it that way. There have been several times that track owners have gotten tax breaks ($$$ from the peoples pockets) when NASCAR could have spent some money.

Is a main grandstand ticket really worth $100 when one of the ring masters has a 10 million dollar condo in New York? That in itself makes me wonder why the New York track fell thru.

$32,000 a month in alimony? That's crazy. Why does she need so much? It takes most people one year to earn that much at work and she gets it in one month for doing absolutely nothing.

Blame Supply and Demand for that. People are willing to pay $100, so that's what they're willing to charge.

Also, they were never going to get a track in New York City, that was about as likely as me coming home to a super hot British Nanny with no reserves (if you know what I mean) one afternoon.

This officially qualifies her as one of the highest paid call girls in NASCAR to date. ;)

I was working at the private side of the Van Nuys airport and I went into a immaculate hangar with a G4 or G5 in it. The airport employee told me the airplane belonged to the France family, "in case they're in L.A." o_O
You know what those things cost?

What year is it?

Hell, I don't know them that well. I just know they're 'spensive.
Apparently they can afford for this one to stay here year round.

G500: 42 million (2010)
G550: US$53.5 million (2011)

This doesn't cover other cost like Hanger cost, Insurance, Fuel, Maintenance, etc. Hel, I hope to own a Light Sport aircraft one day. Compared your typical LSA to a Gulfstream G5, the LSA looks like a moped while the G5 looks like a Rolls Royce.

That's crazy.

if he is done with her, just give her the money to go away. and move on to the next one.

All this money flowing and they asked the taxpayers of North Carolina to foot the bill for the Hall of Fame. This is one thing I can't stand about big league professional sports. I love football and racing and baseball as much as the next guy but the taxpayers shouldn't have to pay for it. I love it enough that I'll support the track or buy football jerseys or go to baseball games. If enough people go, it will pay for itself.
