>> ATLANTA -- NASCAR.com is offering you free access to a virtual dashboard view of the Budweiser Shootout, all from the comfort of your own computer!
>
> NASCAR.com is providing free access to PitCommand for the Feb. 8 race at Daytona International Speedway. It's a way of showing appreciation to our viewers and to generate excitement for the 2003 season.
>
> New for the 2003 season, PitCommand provides real-time weekly coverage of all Winston Cup races. Coupled with improved streaming audio, PitCommand is an experience you won't want to miss!
>
> Thanks to global positioning data via satellite, PitCommand delivers real-time telemetry. That means in addition to each car's position on the track, you can view relative speed, engine rpms, brake and throttle positions, just like on each driver's dashboard.
>
> In addition, in-car and live race audio will be available, so you can hear what's going on at the same time you watch it.
>
> Follow your favorite driver, any two drivers or every car in the race. You'll be closer to the action on the track than you've ever been before.
>
> Fans will not be required to register or pay for PitCommand access for the Budweiser Shootout. All that is required is to download the applet as well as Java 1.3 and the RealOne player. In addition, viewers on that day will be able to visit NASCAR.com's extensive multimedia archives, including driver and race highlights and race recaps, all updated daily.

I'm sure that there is a way for them to check to see how many people will use this great giveaway.....and I hope the total is zero.

If it is anything like racecast (when it was free) then it will be 1 to 3 laps behind the live telecast........and how confusing is that going to be for anyone trying to watch the race and the web feed? Plus, I bet a lot of people get booted because NASCAR.com's server won't be able to handle all those hits at once. Good luck getting on and if you are "lucky" enough to get on, good luck staying on.:)

Pit command worked for me last season. Shrug. It was real time as well. I really enjoyed it. The only thing that lagged was the in car audio which was a couple of laps behind. Although using Pit command for a place like Daytona is kinda goofy. I mean its pretty much wide open.
