“We make no bones about it, Fords, the Ford camp … the No. 4 camp in particular is out front right now and kudos to those guys,’’ Wilson said, noting Harvick’s success. “I think what happened in the offseason with the flat splitter and the (Optical Scanning Station) clearly brought the field closer together, but our MO isn’t one to whine about it or complain about it.’’

Wilson admits Toyota had found advantages with the splitter and now that is gone with the rule change for this season.

“We were doing some really clever things with the front of our cars and year over year, we just lost some front downforce,’’ he said. “That’s why you hear a lot of our guys complaining about having tight race cars.’’

Wilson is confirming what you have been saying all along... new splitter and OSS have dampened the Toyota advantage of 2017. Good catch.

No whining about wind tunnels. No "rude awakening" whining. No insinuations of cheating. Refreshing. This is why I love this company, and David Wilson is an epic leader. Good for Toyota, and good for NASCAR.

He sounds just like Rodney Childers after he got caught cheating. Oh wait, that is the Toyota factory car guy. Never heard that from Chevy or Ford, the have real independent owners

Ford is on their game. Hopefully the Yotas will catch up.

Ford got thrown a bone by NASCAR....and yeah, MY Toyotas will catch up. At least somebody is actually doing work to get fast rather than counting on the sanctioning body to slow everybody else down. :D

Unfortunately, I think the sanctioning body will slow everybody else down next year as that seems to be what the majority want.

I don't see where Ford has anything over Toyota, Harvick has 1 more win than Kyle.
Last year after they stripped the Fords back to also ran, the #78 was running away with everything, even Kyle was pissed.
I only see a disadvantage for the Chevy's right now and that can be expected because they have the least experienced drivers and JJ and Chad may get divorced.

I think TRD found what they were looking for. Time for OSS 2.0, and a new and improved splitter.
