Friday night is race night for me. So, what happens?

RAIN, as usual. :mad:

What hemisphere are you in for it to already be night? Its just late afternoon here on the Eastern seaboard. What kind of racing do they have there?
I'm looking at the hour to hour forecast. We've got 60% chance of rain all night. Considering we get washed out on a 10% chance of rain, I'd say we won't be racing.

It's a dirt track. A little rain don't hurt anything, actually makes the track better. But a lot does.

So if 10% cancels the race but racing on a wet track is better racing what does that say about your a) outlook on racing or b) the track and/or driver's dedication to racing or c) fans willingness to sit thru a little rain.
I guess I don't understand your statement.

What I'm saying is, if there's a race, it'll find a way to rain. Last week, we got cancelled after it stormed on a 10% chance of rain. 60% chance of rain on raceday means itt will rain.

A LITTLE RAIN doesn't hurt. If it pours before the race, it's not a problem. But if it rains all night, it does become a problem. We try to get the races in every week. Race Control is a hectic place when weather threatens. But, there's only so much you can do.

Well you know what they say...

Potomac Cancels for Friday July 31, 2009

Potomac Speedway Staff has been forced to cancel the racing events for Friday July 31, 2009 due to weather moving thru the area. Local weather shows heavy rains, strong winds, and large hail to hit the Southern Maryland area between 3pm and 9pm tonight. Speedway Staff is looking out for the best interest of there drivers, crews, and fans and feels its in the best interest to cancel these evenings events. Racing will resume next Friday August 7,2009 with the MACS Series invading Potomac Speedway, on tap will be the 55 lap Budweiser Super Late Model show paying $5000 to win, along with Street Stocks, Hobbystocks, and Strictly Stocks.

Winchester Speedway(VA) isn't too far from there is it? They are running their big Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt series race there tonight. I was going to go but I had some business to take care of today. I think Lucas oil is also running at Hagerstown tommorow.

Hagerstown can kiss my furry ass.

Whops, wrong account.;)

Winchester's been cancelled with no 2009 make-up race.

Yes, it IS a problem. If it rains to much before the race, you can lose the track. And unless you spend hours and hours working it (and even then, unless you're really, really good...and lucky...) you'll likely end up with a bunch of torn up race cars.

Because of the surface at Potomac, it only takes about an hour to prep the track after a downpour. It actually makes the track better. But they're also using a new compound this year.

Well, it poured and you did not race andy...hmmm

Ive never seen a track that was good after a downpour, even if it came the day before. A light shower is ok, but nothing major;
