i was watching happy hour today and it looked like he was trying to give them hand gestures about the race car, i know many think he is a very talented race car driver and i dont doubt it but how will he be able to tell them about the car?

he is the japanese driver who is driving a haas carter car this weekend

Lot's of guys use hand gestures instead of words. Yer number one ya know?

:mygawd:shamey shame :worm: im serious i want to know there strategy, i guess ill wait and see tomora

They told him to follow the 6 car,and do what he does. That way he will bring the fenders home.:D

Communication has got to be a problem. He doesn't speak English and the crew doean't speak Japanese. They had Geoff Bodine in the car during happy hour to help the crew with set up. Spotting for him on Sunday should be interesting. i hope he knows a few English words, or the spotter has learned some Japanese, or it's going to be real interesting.

Ah c'mon people. At least 5 cars are gonna crash out. Bodine, Park, Biffle, R. Gordon, Skinner would be my early choices. 5 more cars are going to get banged up so bad they are not going to finish anywhere near the lead lap. Add in the turtles and ya got maybe 20 on the lead lap at the end of the race.

Back Row Joe ain't some new kid off a dirt shortie somewhere. I'ld be much more concerned with one of the guys that's got nothing to lose than some backmarker who if nothing else at least knows how to hold his line and stay out of the way.

Good call 71!!:) Besides drivers have raced for years.....radios are relatively recent aides for the drivers. Hand signals work when radios go out during the race........so I see no reason that hand signals could not be used tomorrow. At least everyone will be looking for them from the very start! Not that many signals to learn plus they are sort of international..........Fukuyama probably already knows them.:) I'm sure everyone concerned with the car is much more aware of the situation than any of us!! Let him race before you start looking for problems.:)

Agreed DE, and I believe Hideo "joe" does have a translator available but not in the pits. He does know a little english, just not enough to talk to the crew and vice versa.
Hand jestures are universal.

I looked at the happy hour speeds. Looks like he was a good 6 mph slower than every one else. I 'll say he will not finish the race, Just hope he doesn't take someone out with him.

Yea, and Jeremy Mayfield was 5 miles an hour off the pace.
Gee, I hope he doesn't take somebody out with him.:p

Okay........but you sure would eat some ...........hmmmmm!! How do you say .........hmmmmmmm? How do you say......you might eat something you really would hate if he did? I've never seen this guy race.........he may just kick ass!!:)

Pictory Rane! get it?...Geez! Hope he laps the entire field:D

I'm pretty sure that Fukuyama has a English-Japenese translator, and I think Fukuyama has his own spotter. Language will of course be a barrier, but there are ways around it.

His car is slow, but I hope he can keep it at a competitive pace and stay out of trouble, for his sake, at Dover. Despite his racing experience, he is still a rookie in this series, so he needs laps and all his fenders on the car at the end of the race.

Back Row Joe is a marketers dream. All he's got to do today is finish in one piece and somebody is going to come up with enuf bucks to put a real motor in the car for his next time out.

I'm figuring he's got enuf racing savvy behind him to do that if the car holds together and he doesn't get caught up in somebody;s mess. Same can be said for most all the little guys at the back.

Joe, Tony, Tim, and Kevin are all just looking for solid competitive runs. The 66, 74, 71, and 49 (along with the Bodine 11) have just a few more races this year to show they can hang with the big boys. Daytona is not that far away and next year's back of the pack provisionals are based on this years final points. The 11 is solidly in 40th, Donleavey's 90 41st, but from there back it's up for grabs. Prov spot 43 is priceless.
