Gasoline Prices Rise Again In Md.

AAA says many refineries have cut production because of weak profits stemming from soft demand.

There you have it. While most companies and industries are losing money instead of getting any profit, the oil companies are doing everything they can to jack prices back up because they want more money.

Now, let's see if our new President is true to his word.

Jan 4th I paid $154/9, same station yesterday $191/9. 37¢ increase. Why?

The supply and demand argument doesn't hold up.

Electricity bill gone up 100% this year. They had someone on the news explaining to us how it was because of energy prices.

I was like: Aren't energy prices LOWER than last year?

It's amazing how the oil and electric companies continue to stick us and nobody seems to care.

First year I was in this house, 2001, I paid $1800 for gas heat and a gas water heater. Then they got a 24% increase.
I bought a wood pellet stove. It paid for itself in 2 years and we were warmer.
Gas company came out, they thought I had played with the meter or it was defective. I LMAO when the guy saw the stove and said "Oh".
Even with the increased cost of pellets I pay less now than in 2002 for heat. Gas bill runs an average of $45 a month. They hate me and I love it. If I could get around the zoning I'd have a windmill in my back yard too.

The environuts want windmills here to.

Once they were told they were going to be put along the bay, the same environuts whined about it. It disrupts their view.

You can't find gas under $2.00 here. I've seen it in the $2.20s some places.

Yeah, now the idiots that were in your way to begin with are driving even slower now:mad:
LOL I have to take backroads home from where I work and when 1 car decides to drive 15mph, it's a mile-long backup.

Sadly, I'm the only driver with the balls to go cross the dotted line to pass the slow azz drivers. :(

I didn't know they redefined what a dot was?I thought they were round...are they now redefined to include polygons too?

Umm... it is called "I can raise the price if I want to syndrome." Not making enough money this month, profits are lower, lets jack the price, happens all the time not by the stations, but by the refineries. Pres.Obama has to do something about this, but he will cave into the the lobbyists and all the crap that goes along with it. Get used to $2.50/ gas it will be here soon.

there was something on 60 minutes or one of it's clones about soaring gas prices a few weeks back. it appears that it was traders on the commodity exhanges driving up prices. imagine that....

Yeh traders with kickbacks from the big oil guys!

What's a Speed Limit?

They don't have those on 210.

This is a 2 lane road RT 20 I take it in my way home from Springfield, 2 cars going 30-35 in a 45 mph zone. happens all the time, thank goodness for the Cummins in my truck......hehehe.

I can rationalize that different brands of gas have different prices due to a variety of factors. But I have 3 Hess stations nearby and all 3 are company owned. All 3 stations are within 2 miles of each other. The same truck delivers gas to each. They are located in the same zip code so the economics of the area shouldn't be a factor, yet prices can and do vary. Up to 10¢ a gallon. Why?

ST. LOUIS — Gas prices are inching up, even as crude oil prices remain steady. So what gives?

Experts on Tuesday said crude oil is just one factor in the price at the pump. The current uptick in price is the result of an increase in refinery costs. And while those who follow the industry don't foresee getting back to $4 per gallon anytime soon, the pump price is expected to increase modestly over the next several months.

The price of a gallon of regular unleaded nationally was at $1.92 on Tuesday, up 13 cents since last month, according to AAA Auto Club's Fuel Gauge Report. In Missouri, the price was $1.79, up 17 cents from a month ago.

Crude oil prices over the same span have generally been around $40 per barrel. In fact, the crude oil price has dropped since Feb. 1 — the price was at $39 Tuesday afternoon.

The culprit, experts say, is refinery costs.

"The refineries are cutting back on production in response to falling demand," said Brian Youngberg, an energy and utilities analyst for St. Louis-based Edward Jones. "That has an impact on price."

So, when demand is high, oil prices skyrocket and gas prices go up.

When demand is low and oil prices go down, gas prices go up because the oil companies shut down refineries to offset the decrease in demand and still end up pocketing the change.

They're robbing us, again, and President Obama (that's still cool to say) needs to put a stop to it.

It's my opinion that this whole recession is directly caused by gas prices. People ain't investing money now they're gonna save up because they know gas prices can go back up to $4-$5 anytime for no reason and there's nothing we can do about it.

Yeah, I see today where oil is under $35 a barrel. I don't quite understand why the prices haven't gone down. I do hope Obama does something about our oil dependence.

Oil dependence doesn't matter.

Once they figure out how to make gas from natural energy sources, the greedy (insert whatever word fits here) will find a way to screw us with that.

Oil prices are at $35/barrel, yet we're paying $2.00/gal. as much as we were when it was $70/barrel.

Went up here in Springfield Ma. area another 10 cents yesterday, reg. now 1.93, super 2.05- 2.11.

Jumped to $1.95 here this morning. A couple of months ago we were in the high 30's everywhere. The bad part oil prices dropped this morning.

The price of ol continues to the downside while the price of gas at a the pumps continues upward. The excuse given is that the refineries are "down' for maintenance and thereby the supply to the pumps has declined.

I do hope Obama does something about our oil dependence.

One thing I found that works is paying with Obama dollars. They're accepted everywhere and are worth twice the American dollar. You have to specifically ask for them at the bank as they don't have enough in circulation yet. But, once Congress passes the porkulus bill the Treasury is geared to dump the American dollar and start producing the Obama dollar.

Or, as that great American once said, 'Weesa's saved'.

Gas prices around here have gone down just a little bit. $1.75 at the pump for regular unleaded and diesel is now under $2 at $1.99.
