Larson’s teammate, Jamie McMurray, had his best race of the year Sunday night in the Coca-Cola 600 before eventually finishing sixth.

So, how close is CGR to pulling in Victory Lane?

“We had a really good car (at Charlotte), and we’ve come a long way — especially the Chevys from the beginning of the year (on) mile-and-a-halfs,” McMurray said after Sunday’s race. “I think in less than a month we will contend to win.

He's my favorite driver, but I think this is stretching it just a bit. This was only his second top 10 in a points paying race this season. He might contend for a win at Daytona and Talladega, but he wont be a contender anywhere else.

never liked him much. seems too sissy and feminine to me. I typically don't like drivers who are better suited to have pantene shampoo as their sponsor.

Haha, blue collar. How does one live the authentic working class life aboard a private jet? You surely know nothing about Jamie McMurray's background. His dad had a racing parts business and was a kart racer. Jamie was too. They didn't have big money. They're from Joplin, MO, nobody there does.

He did have a snazzy haircut there for a while though.

He didn't say HE would win, he said CGR team would win, meaning probably Larson.

we’ll since McMurray has 1 more win than I do since 2011... it would probably surprise a couple people if he contends for a win.

Haha.

Or you could say Bayne and McMurray are tied for wins since Bayne entered into the cup series... a lot of people might like that better.
I think McMurray has a better resume but Bayne is ahead (I think) in wins as a Roush driver.

its ok you don't have to agree. I gravitate toward the blue collar drivers.
I know what you mean.

Guys like Larry Phillips.

It is good to see the Ganassis teams have stepped up this season. McMurray is at a stage in his career where results start to mean more.

I know it's all part of how a given race unfolds, but had Harvick not wrecked out, Blaney's engine not failed, and Logano not suffered his damage, the results probably don't look as peachy. Not sure if there were any other happenings at the top of the field, those were just the first ones that came to mind.

When you take an objective look at it you kinda realize that Chevy overall isn't accomplishing much on pure speed right now. That's the killer.

I guess there’s some sort of understanding in the cup series that if you win the Daytona 500 and a couple others around it... no need to see you win again or something. You’re automatically GOAT status or something.

They're switching to Ford?

Big, if true.
Ford is coming with the Mustang to cup and nobody has any idea how they will run with whatever front end they get.
I would like to see all cars have the same body on both sides as the factory car.

Or atleast do their switch at the same time. That would be interesting

Umm yeah, jmac does seem feminine to me in his mannerisms. Just so you know a guy like tony Stewart is the opposite of that, Clint bowyer opposite, Kevin Harvick opposite, etc. it’s ok I just prefer a tuff image, you don’t have to agree. I think some of the younger crowds blurs this stuff these days

When he was walking the catwalk at the All Star race, he wouldn't slap hands with any of the fans..germaphobe

Based on your examples given, I'm not so sure that you know what "tuff" means...

I drove home from holidays a few weeks ago ... through the high desert.

It's very dry up there.

all those guys have been in fights, when was the last time jmac mixed it up with another driver outside the car? if your in the sport this long if your tuff that at least needs to happen. I think I know more about tuff than you seem to. I guess tony and kevin are wusses. beyond that all those guys are characters and personalities that bring "stuff" to the sport. maybe its something crazy they say. maybe its tony just wrecking a guy. Or in kevin's case its pushing brad k into jeff gordon and triggering a brawl. All those guys leaving the sport has been really bad because we seem to have a crisis of colorful personalities. that is what I mean by blue collar. maybe there is a fight. maybe there is some mouthing off. one of the greatest things about nascar is its presonalities. jmac=meh

One thing about the high altitude is that goal posts are easier to move. It's possible to shift from hairstyle to mannerisms to defining tough - sorry, tuff - as triggering a fight between other people in the span of a few sentences.
