Dale's dream --- a sad ending.

EGR will run Chevy's; all move to Ganassi's shop: Director of Dodge Motorsports Mike Accavitti told Sirius NASCAR Radio's Sirius Speedway Tuesday that Chip Ganassi Racing will race Chevrolets as part of its recent merger with Dale Earnhardt, Inc. Accavitti's announcement was the first public admission of an anticipated manufacturer change by the Ganassi team. (Sirius NASCAR Radio's Sirius Speedway)

AND The new Earnhardt Ganassi Racing team will run Chevrolets and work out of the Chip Ganassi Racing shop, a team spokesman confirmed. The team still has not named a driver nor a crew chief for the #41 car nor has it named a crew chief for the #8 car driven by Aric Almirola. It also still needs sponsorship for Almirola and a half-season sponsorship for #42-Juan Pablo Montoya. The new organization resulted from a merger of Dale Earnhardt Inc. and Chip Ganassi Racing, which was announced in mid-November. Neither the shop location nor the engine package is a surprise. The Ganassi team has been a Dodge organization since 2001, the first full season after Chip Ganassi bought a majority interest in Sabco Racing from Felix Sabates. Dodge had a contract with Ganassi at least through 2009, but Dodge officials had indicated that they would let Ganassi out of its commitment if it was in the best interest of the team.(SceneDaily)(12-16-2008)

I hate to say it but i think Dodge is done with Cup. Robby Gordon just announced today he is switching from Dodge to Toyota.
but consider robby went through hell with GEM and has made it 4 for 4.

That's a shame. I remember watching a program when Sr showed of his creation when it was completed, he was so proud. State of the art everything including a banquet room and movie theater.
Hope the money gives Teresa comfort as she damm sure doesn't care about his memory or fans. If only she hadn't been so freakin' greedy.

I agree. Tony said it best.

The way i look at it how can any of the manufacturers justify spending any money in racing right now. I wouldn't be surprised if they all totally pull out of Nascar for 2009.

They have said a few times that NASCAR is still their major marketing tool that they like to use. And marketing to people right now is important so they can start moving product.

Yeah, but everyone knows the cars racing in nascar aren't what you actually buy. Now racing actual production models (with minor mods) would be much more marketable to me. It would be a lot cheaper too. Who knows, maybe you could even recognize a car manufactuer w/o looking at the # and who's driving it. It might even provide some real competition to produce better street cars.

I vote corvette, challenger, mustang, 350Z (come on, let nissan in), and the camry.

I just can't understand how money, and power could be put ahead of family..... I know, I'm not her, I haven't "been there, done that"....... but daggone, how can you go against EVERYTHING that Dale stood for...... first Jr, then the number, now the legacy........
Well I guess the bright side is, she's still hawkin his name and likeness all over the place......... saw a COT #3 the other day diecast.......... and Lord knows there are plenty of Intimidator cra.......uh..... stuff out there......
at least Sr's name is in good hands.....:sarcasm:
