Ok folks, I had to move last week because of a combination of things. First, my lease ran out and my landlord wanted to raise my rent $200 per month to $2250.00 for a two bedroom apartment in West Los Angeles. Second, by job relocated me to Long Beach, CA which is over 30 miles away. I am spending at least $7.00 per day on gas. Enough is enough and I am outta here. I moved to a smaller place and bought a damn bike to get to work. This will save me an average of $4800 in rent and utilities per year and about $2800 in fuel and auto insurance per year. So here is the question... what would it take for you to relocate to a different area due to expenses?

We live in los Angeles also wide.....and we don't pay near as much as you do......we live up in the hills of kegal canyon if you know where that is.....
and thank goodness for DE's company truck, but if it hit 4.25......I think i would be hightailing it out of southern California, even California for that fact, I am not crazy about living in California..but it is an expense to move across country to where we would like to move......NC or Fl........moving, jobs..etc..housing.....those are the big factors..... :( hate to say we are stuck here......but...can't just pick up and move like we were kids....... :(
so guess we are stuck........
give me a nice little small town anyday..... :D

I'm not going to sacrafice my location where i live for the high price of gas. That is why i have a Subaru that gets 36 around town and 41 on the highway. Also why we traded in our 1500 ram for a 2500 Diesel. Gas will come down eventually to a some what normal level after the election.

I live in Santa Monica and work in Long Beach. 30 miles driving distance. I drive a Diesel as well and is many places, it is higher per gallon than Premium Unleaded.

Also, I hate commuting on the 405. 35 minutes to work..........1.5 hours to go home!!! Heck with that

Well gas could go to $5.00/gallon and I still wouldn't move to the town I work in and I am not selling my house so I will pay the price for gas and I will still drive my Z-71 30 miles one way to work.

You couldn't get me away from this house with phantom fighter jets flown by terrorist suicidal albino fanatical PETA members. Gas schmas.

I can understand it if you have a long commute though. It only takes me about 20 minutes each way, and that long only because it's almost all back roads.

I don't have a dog in this fight. LOL

I'm retired. Thank goodness. I don't have to drive anywhere but to the grocery store.

I must say though that the prices here will never be as high as in Europe. So be thankful for that.

Ok, so if you won't move.... what do you do?
Umm, maybe drive to work?! Radical concept I realize, but I'm content with it.

The gas we use to run the generators. The house is to stay out of the weather.

And being annoying is more of a hobby than a job.

LOL, so how is that persimmon tree?

Those back roads must be rough on your paws and claws!

Thank you EMP. (I like the deal about the PETA members)

I dont think many people will move because of gas, youll probally see alot more people buying hybrids though.

Well some of us don't have a set distance to drive in order to get to work........some of us go to where the work is. At the moment I'm working a job that is about 15 miles from home. I'm also working a job that is 60 miles away. We just just finished a job that was 45 miles away. And one more that is about 25 miles away. Some of us work jobs that require a great deal of driving just to get to where the work is. I don't have to go to each of the jobs I've mention every day.........but I do have to go to one or the other every day. The 60 mile away job is slowed due to political crap...........but, I'll eventually have to do that drive again every day!! High gasoline prices hurt the construction industry...........it will filter down to y'all too.

It already has filtered down to all of us, higher gas is like adding a TAX to everything.

This is why the government is going to get away with raising the fuel costs to new heights....

The Oil Ministry sets the price of a barrel of oil, which then reflects on the price that it costs to refine the gas we use. Our government doesn't set the price.
