Headed down to Gatlinburg for a few days. No clue where we are staying. lol. I'm taking my 'puter so i'll still be able to check in.

Have fun, it's crowded this weekend. You should of come down on Friday and went to the track. You're not far from it when in Gatlinburg.

I've always preferred Pigeon Forge to Gatlinburg. Too many pretenders and foo foo places for me.

It was not my choice. LOL. But I've not been since I was a little guy. I was under 10 last time I was here. At a hooters in Knoxville now. Guess we get to play the detour game with I-40.

Oh golly!

I lived in Pigeon Forge back in 53-54, Went to school with Dolly in Sevierville, then we moved about 2 miles and I was transferred to Gatlinburg High.. Brings back memories.
Betsy:rolleyes:

Yep!

Have you been back to visit since you moved?

A time or two. I still have friends in Maggie Valley and around that I keep up with. (We moved there from Pigeon Forge)
The Tennessee area in question has changed a bunch since I lived there. There was a one-way bridge between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg when we moved there. It was taken down and a two-way installed while I was there.
I think It was 54 when the Grand ole Opry first had a satellite venture in Gatlinburg. Marty Robbins Played most of the summer. He dated my sister for a while that summer.
The area had lots of tourists even back then.

I use to love going to Frontier Land in Maggie Valley. They tore it down. I still love visiting Cherokee, NC. I just gave a friend of mine directions to Santa's Land in Cherokee, NC. I want to go, too. LOL Hey, being a metal head, I still know who Marty Robbins is. (thanks to tkj) LOL Thanks for sharing. I love living in this area.

As I remember the Frontier place was built in 59. Didn't they call it ghost mountain, or something like that? All us residents were amazed at the cable lift up the mountain.
Maggie is almost a ghost town anymore. Since the reservation got gambling it is the center for tourists now. Used to be families with children came to the mountains on vacation.. Now they come to Cherokee to gamble and the children stay there too.
Betsy;)

Ghost Town is the only one I'm familiar with.

That there are bed bugs is not surprising. There is a bed bug epidemic in America and other countries.

Yeah, I have been hearing more and more about it these past two years. Seems like motel maintenance and cleaning has gotten a lot sloppier recently.

As someone that spends anywhere from 150 to 170 nights a year in motels, I want to know where the bad ones are.

And the worst part about it is that even some of the more pricey places have them too.

The place we are in now is a lot better. It gets cleaned daily and has a pest service weekly inspect the place. We got a suite in PF across from Dixie Stamp for $71. I called up here at 2am and gave the guy our story and got a little knocked off a night
