The latest from the man himself....
Hey guys,
How’s it going? I hope everyone is doing well this week. We’re pretty much iced in, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Well, not really but we did get hit fairly hard on Sunday with some snow and ice. This kind of weather is not common for the area, so it takes a while for the city to get the streets in drivable condition. Because of that there is loads of excitement on the roadways with people crashing into ditches and what not. It’s starting to thaw out so things should be back to normal by tomorrow.
Speaking of tomorrow, I’ll be out in Las Vegas testing the No. 16 National Guard Ford. It seems like every week I’m talking to you about a test. I’m really excited about this one, because it will give us a better idea of how the new body is going to stack up against the competition. We’re also going to get a good feel for the new tire compound. I’ve heard a lot of positive feedback from guys already out there testing so I’m anxious to give them a try. From the sounds of it, it doesn’t look like there will be as many gas and go stops this year because of the softer compound.
I did do something fun yesterday and you’ll get a chance to see it during Speedweeks. We filmed a commercial for Subway and it’s supposed to air nationwide during the Daytona races. The original script called for something different then what we filmed, but the ice prevented us from being able to do anything on the racetrack. The creative people did a nice job making adjustments and I think you’re going to like it.
Well, that’s about it for this week. I hope you all have a nice weekend and I’ll talk to you next week. Take care.
Later,
Greg
