We all know that nascar and the fans didn't like tandem racing because it ended pack racing. It also ended 'the big one', but as any RP will tell you, that has nothing to do with nascar's changes to the gen 6 car.

NASCAR had tried to end the tandem racing with the gen 5 car by limiting radio communication, using a larger plate and a smaller spoiler, along with limiting cooling capacity and pressure. It limited the tandem, but it didn't fully eliminate it, but it did succeed to start bringing back the big one.

In order to bring back pack racing, and NOT an effort to bring back the excitement of the big one, NASCAR mandated a larger plate opening to make the cars faster, and took away 500 lbs of down force to make the cars looser and harder to drive. They also redesigned the bumpers so the slightest push will send a car spinning.

I'm sure the NASCAR engineers were told to avoid making changes that would bring back the big one while bringing back the pack racing the fans adore. I'm no engineer, but??????????

Will these changes bring back close pack racing on the narrows of Daytona?

Will these changes bring back the big one that nobody is willing to say they crave?

Will we see a spread out safety parade most of the night because the cars are too unstable in a pack?

Gee, I wonder which of those 3 options will bring the most media attention and please NASCAR the most. I really don't have a clue. Do you?

Well I did sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night and I will say that 1 person will win the Daytona 500 in the new Gen 6 car.:D

lol That's about all I know for sure. I hope it's either bumper to bumper and side-by-side racing or a wreckfest all day. If it's a safety parade, I'll turn it off until the very end and watch the wrecks and 3 GWC's.

I believe there was a "big one" at Talladega last year.

I don't have a problem with how the new cars are regarding the bumpers. There should not be any pushing each other in plate races. The drivers need to learn to lay off each other.

Yep. That was with the smaller spoiler and larger restrictor plate introduced earlier in the year. The new spoiler is even smaller.

Why do I get the feeling that somebody is getting his excuse ready in case Brad doesn't win the 500.;)
