  • Germain Racing to switch to Chevy: #13-Germain Racing is changing manufacturers once again. Ending a two-year relationship with Ford, team owner Bob Germain informed Doug Yates, CEO of Roush Yates Engines, on Tuesday that his company will be moving to General Motors for 2014. We value Germain Racing as a customer, and we hate to see them leave, Yates said. We wish them well. Germain is expected to form an engine and technical alliance with Richard Childress Racing similar to the relationship Furniture Row Racing. Germain Cup driver Casey Mears drove for RCR in 2009. Attempts to reach Germain Racing owner Bob Germain for comment have been unsuccessful.(FoxSports)(10-1-2013)

Well when positive results are nonexistent you gotta do what you gotta do, maybe they oughta change the car number from 13 to 23 or 25

They've made some strides the last couple of years, especially in 2013. This should work out pretty well for them. It seems like other small teams saw what allying with a big organization did for Furniture Row and now they want to do the same.

I hope RCR can work this like HMS. They are always one step behind HMS these days.

I expect about the same results next year as this year with Mears drving atleast....makes me wonder is anyone else going to switch what happen to the JTGD rumors?

I think it's a good move for them. Ford and Roush/Yates didn't give them much help as far as I can tell, just took the money and ran. I think they'll improve a bit with this switch. Now if they could only get a decent driver in that seat, then they'd be in business. If nothing else you gotta give them credit for retaining Geico as sponsor through some pitiful performances, including start and parks.

still about 28 maybe 29 full funded bigger teams don't expect them to out run them at least with mears or for a few years...even though geico is a major company I don't think they're putting a ton of money into this team

If they have a RCR alliance than Allmendinger or Truex should drive for them, not Mediocore Mears. Idk why they needed it though, they seem to be doing decent on their own especially compared to other teams.

When It comes to racing the people they can race I.e. Frm, Tbr, BK I would say they are by far the best.

As a fan of The Onion and Casey Mears.. I would LOVE to see them start to improve. They always seem to have decent top 15 speed at some point every race, if they can put whole races together that Geico car might be something to pay attention to.
