Ghosts of Southern Dirt Tracks

Starlite was the sister track of Lancaster Speedway ( my home track now...) Both tracks held NASCAR events during the 50's and 60's..... Dad used to work there and Lancaster, he sold pit passes, did some scoring, and i think flagged a couple of times. lot of good memories there. Some of the best in the south raced there every week....... sad to see it go.
If ya get a chance though, roll through the entire site... lots of neat stories there, and great pics ( even have a few of my uncles model pics on there, ( Jackie Sims)..... just a shame to see great tracks fall.........

There's also an old track in Aquasco, MD.

It's nothing but a broken road surrounded by trees and a collapsing tower. There are no trespassing signs up everywhere and the cops are quick to show up.

If I ever go, it'll probably be on a Saturday afternoon that was it doesn't look suspicious.

I was also told the owner of the Marlboro Motor Raceway uses the property but will give visitors a tour if they come on a Monday or Tuesday. At least he's willing to do that free of charge. That track has a lot of history. I wish I could've seen it back in the day.

Google Video has a silent clip of an SCCA race at the old Marlboro Motor Raceway.
