•Gibbs has spoken to Busch: Joe Gibbs told Sirius NASCAR Radio's Sirius Speedway with Dave Moody that he has spoken with Kyle Busch about the profanity laced tirade at Texas Motor Speedway that resulted in Busch being fined $25,000 and placed on NASCAR probation for the remainder of 2010. "(Kyle) gets so uptight that every now and then, he makes mistakes," said Gibbs. "We've got to do everything we can here inside Joe Gibbs Racing to make sure that doesn't happen. That's what we're totally focused on. We've got a plan laid out, and Kyle has agreed to do the things he needs to do& to ensure that we don't put ourselves in that position again. We think he's a huge talent; a smart, bright guy that we enjoy being around. His whole life is Sam (his fiancée)& and racing. There are no issues with him running around drinking or anything. He doesn't care about any of that. He's totally focused, and all he wants to do is race cars. (Unfortunately) he gets so wound up at the race track that it's hard for him to handle some of the things he needs to handle. We love his competitive nature, but he just needs to learn to handle things better." Gibbs declined to speak specifically on what discussions have been had, or what guidelines have been put in place regarding Busch's future behavior. He stressed, however, that all parties agree that incidents like his recent outburst at Texas Motor Speedway cannot continue to occur. "(It) was not good for us at Joe Gibbs Racing, and it certainly wasn't good for our sponsor," he said. "We feel like there was a plan that we had to put out there, to assure that this doesn't happen again. We're going to keep that in-house, but it's something that we think is smart, and Kyle does too. He realizes where he is, and that's a great part of this. We just have to make sure it doesn't happen again."(Sirius Speedway)(11-17-2010)

Can't ruin Gibbs good old faith image right now. I'm beyond sick of hearing them talk about it and doing pieces on it.

George Carlin said it best, the #1 commandment is keep thy religion to thy self.

Whoa there, where did that come from. I guess the owner of a team now will not be allowed to control his employees. I can see it now, anarchy in the pits. It's pretty obvious you don't like Joes ethos.

Kyle is being submitted to the same stuff Stewart went through a few years ago and it will destroy his competitive nature also. :sarcasm:

Sorry doesn't have much to do with this episode. I'm just sick of hearing about Gibbs faith of lately. I've become very sick of Joe Gibbs over the past few years but I still like the drivers on the team though but that's about it.

Sorry, but this crap wouldn't have been AND WASN'T an issue before all the big money came to NASCAR. It's not politically correct to offend someone both verbally and by offering the sideways F.O. finger, but it apparently is OK to actually physically assault someone as Jeff Gordon did to Jeff Burton. I guess it was OK because Jeff Burton is just a driver and the dude in the white suit is an honorable NASCAR Official...

Welcome to commercialized racing.

Actually, Joe doesn't have all the right people driving for him. He needs people like Mark Martin, Jeff Burton and the like...people that can keep their emotions pretty much under control. Now RCR on the other hand, could do well with a driver like Kyle, or the old Tony. Not just one driver like them, but the entire team like them.

I dunno, I'm guessing that soon enough even RCR will want vanilla drivers.

Doesn't anyone think that a driver can be succesful and liked at the same time without resorting to being a petulant jerk? I'm sure a sponsor like Furniture Row or Boudreaux's Butt Paste wouldn't mind the risk of putting up with his antics for the exposure.

That would make more sense. I always thought it was funny with all the drivers out there that Gibbs, who lets face it is a Holy Roller, ended up with hot heads like Toney and Kyle. But at the same if he can handle would be convicts in the NFL he can handle those two with no problem.

Sure. Look at Jimmy Johnson. Once you load his software, he's a real nice guy.

Johnson is a mature professional. If you want characters like Kyle Busch I suggest the WWE.

No kidding, there is no rhyme nor reason when it comes to Nascar. Favorites are played, some get penalties, some don't ...all depends on what your last name is.

Naw, WWE is scripted and I don't think anything Kyle does is scripted. Besides, most of us fans get passionate about the sport, what's wrong with having drivers that do the same?

I surprised that this is still even a topic. I'm equally surprised that anyone would consider Kyle's antics that day to be acceptable in any manner.

Holy cow, look at what television has brought us. Today's racers are no different than what they were 60 years ago. In fact, today's racers look pretty calm compared to what they used to do and say. It's just that today, with cameras and microphones in their face, they can't, or aren't supposed to show any emotions. But also, 50 years ago the teams weren't so Dependant on sponsorship. Get out there and race, but be a choir boy.

I'd have to agree with this. I don't mind drivers showing passions, but there's no excuse for flipping off an official.

Home Depot didn't put up with Tonys antics. They sell to a adult audience.

Mars is a candy company, they sell to adults and kids. I'm a little surprised it's taken this long before Gibbs did something to protect the sponsors image.

Hmmm..... 50 years ago. What was it like 50 years ago? I just went back and looked @ the results of the next to last race of the '60 season for a similar time perspective. The 1960 Capital City 200 was held @ the Atlantic Rural Fairgrounds in Richmond, VA. The Wood Brothers won the race that day with Speedy Thompson behind the wheel of his '60 Ford beating Junior Johnson & Ned Jarrett, the only other two on the lead lap. No sponsor on the side or at least nothing of note. A total of 19 cars in the race that day, 18 of which took laps. 7,500 people in attendance that day. Boy, times sure have changed.

I agree. What is did was very inappropriate regardless if he did that in 2010 or in 1980. Sure, people do that. But that doesn't make it right.

And as for Gibbs' profession of faith, I'm not going to get into that except to say I totally disagree with what some others have said. He has the right to do that just like those that don't want to hear it have the right to turn off their TV or radio or switch it to another channel.

I am sick and freakin' tired of religion creeping into every aspect of life. Gibbs has every right to his faith, in the proper setting. If I want a dose of religion I'll go to church, not the race track.

Where was all of the outrage over Jamie Mac's victory lane speech after the Charlotte race in which religion was brought to the forefront? I don't remember anyone posting an issue they had with it then. Are you all this frustrated when the invocation is performed prior to the race?

Personally yes but I'm not religious at all, I usually just zone out until the point where some of them pray for the sponsers.

I think that any athlete (it happens in every sport for the most part) thanking god for helping him win, etc. is annoying to listen to because god had nothing to do with that person winning. It's usually not worth posting about.

I usually watch the races on a bit of a delay so I can fast forward the commercials as well as the invocation. If I'm at the track I just stay in my seat until it's time for the anthem

It's America, we don't have to agree on everything.

I didn't imply anywhere that we should all agree about this. I simply find it odd that there were no negative posts made about Jamie Mac's victory lane speech after his Charlotte win yet many seem to take issue when we're talking about Joe Gibbs. I don't even think he mentioned his religion in his statements at the beginning of this post. Maybe I'm just not reading enough into it.

:beerbang::beerbang::beerbang:

Not frustrated, but I roll my eyes at the "God bless our sponsors and let's pray that God gets people to buy more stuff from them."

Usually I just mute all the pre-race stuff.

Fake for sure and out of hand.

Oh I know you didn't, I should have said that better. The nice thing is that we don't all have to agree on everything, that's more what I meant.

I like Jamie Mac but I didn't agree with what he said. I just didn't think it was anything worth posting about, no purpose to it really. Gibbs has just been getting on my nerves lately and it's been getting worse with every year so I ended up ranting a bit.

For the love of God, stop your whining.

If you've got a problem with me or any of my posts, take it up with me personally or go ahead and report me to the administrator. If you don't like something I have to say, don't read it.

I did take it up with you personally, I made the comment directly to you. I don't know what's more annoying, your constant complaining or seeing you avatar every other post. Just trying to help.

Fortunately for you, and anyone else who's annoyed with my posts there's a tool called the 'Buddy / Ignore Lists'. Try it out.

WOW! It seems some of us are already suffering from NRS (No Racing Syndrome). :D

I took away two different messages- Jamie seemed humbly thankful that he is able to compete successfuly at what he loves, and Gibbs strikes me as saying "God likes me best" when one of his cars wins. As for the invocation, it doesn't bother me until they cross into "...our beloved xxxxxxx Speedway" or invoking sponsor names.

The last few weeks have been pretty nitpickie . If there isn't a big pile up in Homestead, it may be a long off season for the forum. We are basically splitting hairs on most of this stuff .
