My wife brought home her order of Girl Scout cookies yesterday and I was pretty disappointed. She told me that they said Tagalongs and Samoas weren't available this year because they were trying to change their image by offering less of their less healthy cookies.

What?

Healthier cookies?

How many of you eat cookies for their health benefits? I think I am perfectly capable of making healthy food choices overall. However, when I decide to eat a cookie it's because I've decided that a cookie is not going to kill me.

I will admit to laughing when a local radio personality refered to the Girl Scouts as "matrons of death" on the air a few years ago. Of course they are full of sugar, sodium and other things that are certainly not good for you in excess, but again, it's a damn cookie. What do you want it to be?

I have two boxes of Tagalongs sitting on my desk right now. They're so yummy! Must be a local thing if you don't have any in your area.

I see how you are. Yeah, I got on their web site and it said different cookies were available in different areas. Bastards must think my region is just too fat to deal with them.

It's not really that big of a deal I guess. Keebler makes a very similar cookie to the Tagalong and it's a lot cheaper. Nobody makes a Samoan though.

Why is it that the cookies are called by different names in different areas? Tagalongs here are called Peanut Butter Patties and Samoas here are called Caramel DeLites, my favorite.

Never mind, I found the answer. It all depends on the company that makes the cookies.
