Well the rumors of GM making engines for the IndyCar Series are true. They officially announced it this morning.
Chevy will build a twin turbo, direct injection V-6 engine. It will have an aluminum block and cylinder heads. Full specs on the engine will be released at a later date.

It will be supplying these engines for the 2012 season of IndyCar. Team Penske will introduce the new engine in 2012.

So now we will have at least 2 different engine suppliers for 2012 with Honda and Chevrolet. And in the meantime, more could follow.
