go Joe

I think Hendrick is stupid if they don't give the ride to Joe. Whatever that team has done in the past 2 months has been impressive. It seems that team has really started to gel and the chemistry is there. While I am not a fan of Joe, I do think it would be wrong for Hendrick to take him out of the car and put someone else in who will need to build chemistry again. They have something good going, why not stick with it?

That 25 car sure is good at Atlanta. Hendrick should keep Joe in that car next year.

It's taken some time, but it looks like the #25 team might be finding something with Joe. His car was awfully stout today, and might have taken the lead if he had some more laps. That team has consistently started running better this last part of the season, and I think Hendrick could keep a good thing going if he re-hired Nemechek for next season.

I really thought Joe was going to win today b/c every time he announces he's going to leave a team he always ends up winning at the end of the season. This #25 car might not be his ride next season, and he almost did the same thing!

Good news from Jayski's

During the rain delay at Atlanta, owner Rick Hendrick said he has no plans to change the lineup on the #25 Chevy -- and that was before driver Joe Nemechek finished second. Hendrick says the addition of crew chief Peter Sospenzo has brought new focus to the team.

Anything but credit a driver not named Jeff I guess.

Rick ain't no fool, he knows which side of the bread has butter on it. Plus, I'm sure....absolutely positively 100 percent bet the farm sure....that if any car or team in his stable starts whoopin it on The Jeff's car and team that there will be a shake-up.

Sure, Joe's a good driver and Peter's a good wrench, but my best guess as to the numero uno reason why the 25 is running up front is because some of the R & D stuff they try on that car is working.

There is only one car/driver of note in Rick's machine. Everybody else is just along for the ride.

I'm glad to see Joe back. It has finally started to click for him. Hopefully we will see better things out of that team in 2003.

Maybe Rick will switch Jeff Gordon and Joe Nemechek next season. That could help the #25 and that would give us a chance to see what another driver could do in the #24. Then in 2004 Rick could switch them back.

So 71Fan, how big of a shakeup is gonna hit the #48 team since they are outshining the Dupont bunch this season?

Would not bet the farm on that bit of reasoning.

Chip Ganassi had an interesting comment on that type of issue Friday night. Asked why the #41 did not seem as strong as the #40 team he answered by way of example.

They built and tested a car for Daytona, it tested very very fast. They came back to the shop and did everything humanly possible to duplicate that car down to digitizing the chassis and body to replicate it. The second car would not run within three tenths of the first no matter what they tried.

It's funny to read people's thoughts on the other Hendrick teams.
They all have the same resources at hand . It's up to the team to use them to their advantage.
I don't buy that R&D stuff.
Leaving Joe in the car next year is the best driver pic out there now.

As far as the 5 team goes I believe it will be Terry last year in that car. He's ready to hit the farm.

Joe has shown that he can drive this car. He is probably the best of all of the available drivers out there at this stage of the year. It might be interesting, though, if Atwood were to go from Smith, for Hendrick to pick him up. Maybe with time, teaching and patience, Casey would go someplace. Rick certainly has the resources to give him the time. Not dump him in a second rate ride like Evernham did. (Just my opinion.)

Yeah, but if Casey and the team don't gel together or that team goes through another slump, Casey's career could get even more hurt in the #25 than it did the #7. Then again, I don't think that would be possible, that #7 team enough damage. Thanks Evernham!
