Going to take this mess in a different direction --- call it the little devil in me. :growl:

What if someone paid one of Mikey's crew to sabotage the car? Not so much to hurt Mikey, but to give Toyota a black eye.

Anything is possible and that theory is certainly within the realm of possibility. However, I would also imagine that there would be huge risk involved for anyone that would be found resposible for instigating it. Probably even a ban from Nascar.

Yesterday I heard a woman call in on Sirius radio swearing it had to be Jack Roush was responsible.

But I don't believe that for a second, nor do I believe anything went on that MW wasn't aware of.

I know what it is, that fuel cell was one that was aquired with the Cal Wells deal and it already had it in it.

It appears nascar will not tell us what was in the tank.. Therefore I think it falls on Mikey to tell us. Certainly it had to be tested to see if and how much it improved the performance. Therefore it must have been known to several or perhaps MANY are even ALL of the testing crew.
I think Mikey should be asked over and over again until he fesses up and tells the real truth about the additive.
It would take 007 hisself to slip something into another teams fuel tank!!!
So forget about dirty tricks!
Betsy:rolleyes:

In the Mikey interview he speculated that maybe it was just some excess hair gel...

yahoo.com said "Jet Fuel" but mixing Jet fuel in a gas motor will not help you one bit. (Jet, K-1, and desel, are basicly the same thing)

so if it was added to help the team then id say it was really air plane fuel. It's an old trick with the o' time dirt racers.

I wouldn't put too much stock into what a caller on a radio says. But Roush has been very outspoken about Toyota coming into NASCAR. But we'll never know.

I doubt another team could do any sabotage...but we have to remember that Mikey/Toyota put together whole new teams and paid extra to lure talent away from other established teams. (they didn't just recruit from the mechanic schools)...so anyway, who's to say there mightn't be a "double agent" type in the organization? Nascar and racing in general has had many stories of intrigue like that in the past. If they do have a bad apple in the organization they still may not know who it is and MW could actually be telling the truth to the media.

Two things a double agent could do - active sabotage...ie putting a substance into the fuel - or - passive sabotage...ie ratting the team's secret out.

It does sound like their's more than we're being told to this story though. It doesn't seem like a very sophisticated way to try and cheat and they would have to know that the penalties would be harsh. (Just a guess)

With all due respect to the original poster, TRL, does it make sense to speculate on what someone could have possibly done? The possibilities would be endless.

Want to start a competition on who can come up with the most ridiculous theory? :D

Somebody remind me, wasn't it Bill Elliott that got caught back in the day with fuel additives? What were the penalties? Did he get suspended?

The last penalty NASCAR issued for a fuel-tampering violation was harsher than Waltrip's. In May 2000, driver Jeremy Mayfield and team owner Michael Kranefuss each was penalized 151 points for a fuel-related violation found at Talladega Superspeedway.

Roush has just the personality to pull something like that to...

About 10 years ago the 24 team was accused of treating there tires with something, and I believe Roush was the one screaming the loudest. Nascar confiscated the tires and yet nothing was ever found. Maybe Jack dumped some of it in the toyota tank figuring they couldn't miss it this time.
Just my far fetched opinion.
:beerbang: :beerbang: :beerbang:

I think one of Mickey's PR people did it. ;) He's getting far more media coverage than ever. 100 X more than he deserves. All the papers and news outlets that usually never cover racing are carrying this story. Some call him a NASCAR 'star'. :bleh:

oh i would definitley win that one.

Well he's got all 3 cars in - and will be a force in the 500 because he knows how to draft (thanks to DEI). He wasn't gonna make the top 12 this year anyway.

I like the blame it on Roush theory....:D

Man I go on holiday for a week without internet access and the $#!% really hits the fan....

I like this line of thinking. It sounds like a Tom Clancy novel or something. Cool ;)

Yeah poor Jack he has only has the most car's in Nextel CUP and more money then anyone. Yet he cry's and worry's that everyone is out to get him and he yell's about Toyota this an Toyota that. Why dosen't anyone question anything about Roush Racing.

How cool was it that two Toyota Truck's beat a Roush Ford in the Track Race Last Night.

Ugh don't forget, Ray Evernham was yelling about Toyota also. :D
