Got notice today that we got the tickets for the Gator Ade suites. Dress is casual, no jeans and no t-shirts! I guess we'll be hob nobing around with the banker set. Still, all the eats, wine and beer we can consume. I'm surprised we can have our scanners. Included in the tickets are garage tours. We're glad that we got these tickets, but we probably wouldn't go if they hadn't been in the suites. I'll just be one more experience for us and even though it's a track close, it's one that we haven't witnessed a race. Been there and on the track via the "Ride Along", but not for a race. It's going to be one heck of a long day and I'll be driving back home afterwards. I'm guessing that we'll pull into the garage by 2:00 a.m. Guess I should get a good night's sleep tonight. Looks like good weather tomorrow.

you lucky dog you!.....I'll be working

I'm sure you'll have a great time

Hope you're having a great time at the track, Buck! We'll be waiting for a full report when you get back. :)

I don't understand about your tickets and having to wait until the last minute to see if you had them. That makes it sort of hard to plan, esp. if you don't live closeby.

If you had any sense you'd toss those tickets away and go to a Arca race with Andy. You know that's the premier racing league in the UNIVERSE. Just ask him...

It's 1:40 in the morning and we just got back. Full report tomorrow and what a time we had. Yorkie, I'll explain tomorrow. Tickled to death about Kasey. :beerbang:

What an experience! Found a great parking space beside the drag strip tower, then was carted to the track gate by our friend in a gold cart. Rode the elevator up to the suite floor and signed in at the suite. We were the first to arrive. Got the seats on the front row, right in front of the window, best seats in the suite. Got the garage tour, took plenty of pictures. Got to meet Bill Elliott and shook his hand. Bout got run over by the Amp car, got run out of the garage by Chad Knous, and saw all the technical inspection stations. The pit road is crowded, but the garage area is simply rediculous. Got back to the suite, ate and drank all we wanted.

Even though the noise in the suite is loud, people are able to talk to each other and the fun and banter that went on there was great. My father called me during the race and though I could carry on a conversation with him, it was a bit difficult. Overall, the experience is something that the wife and I will never forget and is probably the only time that we will be able to see a race like this. I was quite sure we would be forever in the parking lot, but to my surprise, it wasn't nearly as bad as I had thought it would be. Many cars were already gone by the time we got to our car and unlike our local track, getting out of the parking lot was quick and easy. It was the wait on the streets that was long, but in less than 30 minutes from the time we arrived at the car, we were on the interstate heading to home. If you ever get a chance at getting tickets in a suite, jump at it. The total cost for our adventure was, no counting the gas, $4.00 and that was for two $2.00 picks for the winner. We had Tony Stewart and Brian Vickers...both of whom at one point had over a 5 second lead in the race.

Buck, were the stands full? One shot, and a quick one at that, it looked as if there were a lot of empty seats to the left side if you were sitting in the stands.
Glad you had a good time and such a wonderful experience.

Sorta makes me think you might be turning into a democrat by glomming in on the freebies.:D

Sitting in the front stretch, I didn't see all that many empty seats, but I didn't see much of the stands anyway.

It does sound much like a Democrat, taking special favors from others for something. :) But, when you get a chance like that, I don't think that even you would turn it down.

Hey, I'd join either party if they'd give me free top quality race tickets. LOL After all these years, I won't let any party claim me. To heck with the primaries. They want money from you even when you aren't a member. But for race tickets, I'd join and then still just vote for who I wanted. ;)

I was sitting in turn 2....there were a few empty seats in our section, we were able to spread out in our row quite a bit.

The seats in turn 4 were basically empty from what it looked like.

My wife isnt a race fan (or shall i say wasnt a race fan) and this was her first race. She's always pulled for Burton when we watch the races at home because she says she gives AT&T enough money in cell phone charges and burton seems like a nice guy. So, it worked out perfect for me, first race she goes to and her driver wins....maybe that means she will want to go to the track more often!

I even bought her a 31 hat before the race, she made sure the people on the bus back to the campsite knew who won the race!

Love it!! :D

Maybe, just maybe with the economy being what it is, and that the stands are not being filled for each and every race, the price of a ticket might go down. Probably not, but that would be nice.

I'll never regret the races that we've been to and loved every minute of every race that we've attended, but unless we get free tickets again in the future, we'll more than likely not attend another race (big time that is). There was a time when free tickets to the Charlotte race was common and in the early days, RJ Reynolds would give out tickets to their workers for many races. The experience of seeing a race in person is something to behold, not just for the race, but for the commaradery as well. Many people understand what tailgating is like what with big time college games as well as the pros, but even that doesn't compare to a weekend at the track. So much to do there and the souvineers! There you can find souvineers not for two teams, but for 43 drivers and then some. And of course, they talk about the noise at some pro football stadiums, but none of them can compete with the noise that is generated at the track by the cars, and imagine that the crowd can be heard over the noise of the engines when certain drivers take the lead. I only wish that the avialability of the experience was cheaper so that more people could afford it, but thankfully, all the races are televised. But of course, just as other events, seeing a race in person is so much different than watching it on TV.
