I have only been to 1 race and that was long ago. Some friends of mine bought me a ticket for the richmond race coming up (may 15), I decided to go. Anyway what are you allowed to bring as far as coolers, refreshments etc?

When I went to Vegas, they didnt let me bring any drinks in, however I managed to sneak in and keep these coca-colas I hid in my backpack underneath a red bag I put there.

Smack...they should have a web sight that will give you that information. Every track is different, but most will let you bring in soft sided coolers and some type of drink.

nashville didn't allow umbrellas...and it looked like it was going to rain all afternoon. My girlfriend took in three cameras. a lot of people had small coolers. I was actually surprised at how reasonable most of the food was. I too am jealous, I love watching the races at Richmond, I've never been to one, but that would be my next pick to go see (aside from Bristol). Have fun man...I bet you can get Robby's autograph too, he's really accessible. I don't know about other drivers because I was at the Busch race, but I'd say Cup drivers all probably make some sort of appearance over the weekend at their merch trailer.

I emailed the tracks site, and this is the reply I recieved.

You may bring in whatever you like, it just must meet the following regulations:
· Fans may enter Richmond International Raceway with:

o One soft side bag / cooler, no larger than 6 X 6 X 12 inches.

§ Examples include: a soft side insulated cooler, a scanner bag, a fanny pack, a purse, a diaper bag, or a binocular bag, etc.

§ This one bag may be carried in any manner, i.e. by handle, with shoulder straps, on a belt, etc.

§ The soft side insulated cooler may contain ice.

o One clear plastic bag, no larger than 18 X 18 X 4 inches.

§ To accommodate samples received and purchases made after fans have parked their cars.

Clear plastic bags may not contain ice.

I'll be at Richmond to smack500  I'm Pumped about it, cause it will be my first Race. :D

Same as California smack!! But a word to the wise............don't push it. I didn't notice it too much this year but last year they were turning away people who too big of bags and too many. That would be disappointing to get to the gate and be turned away for something like that!! Have fun.......Richmond is my personal favorite short track!! :D

I just wanted to bring a couple drinks, because I know track prices are rediculous for refreshments. It isnt that big of a deal though seeing as its a night race.

Im gonna try to find some time to go out and get a cooler, and a scanner. Is there any paticular scanners any of you recomend?

Thanks for the tips everybody.

Since you dont go to many races it may be best for you to rent one at the track, it will be cheaper than buying one and they will program it for you by computer. just my .02c

smack, bowtie is right. You would be better off just renting a scanner at the track for the richmond race. A decent scanner with good headphones is going to run you around $200. I got mine from RadioShack, but I also have season tickets to TMS and I attend all 6 races each year. Now the cooler, well that's a different thing! But, most of all, have a great time!!! ;)

Well, the wife has just informed me we are going to Richmond as well. We are sitting in the Henrico Tower but I don't know which section. Shame we couldn't have a mini-reunion of the board posters that will be there.

well turns out a relative had a scanner hes going to let me borrow, and I bought a cooler at walmart. So I think I am all set.

Glad to hear other people will be there. Ill be in nextel area section A.
