I just had to post this and I don't mean it to be political one way or the other...but the problem with the Healthcare website makes me think about what is likely going on behind the scenes.
Now anybody who thinks the "higher ups" in D.C. are taking this in stride (like they act like) is way off. The failure of the Healthcare website is huge. One specific area of what is likely going on (having been a Project Officer) is the publicized bringing in of the "Alpha Team" to fix the problem.
OK...so they are bringing in the "experts"..but to be fair I'm sure the folks who have been working the software coding for the last two years aren't reall idiots. They have probably been doing a decent job every day - most of them have been proud of their work. From what I have heard they were basically sabotaged by the changing requirements from HHS - poor planning by our government (yes, hard to believe, I know
) - and they ran out of time to properly test. But with human nature being what it is (I know all about human nature...I'm a human) the folks that did the "grunt work" for two years aren't going to be too excited about the "hero experts" coming in to save the day...and guess what?...the Hero experts can't fix the problem(s) without the cooperation (and even some training by) the folks who have been working the project all along.
So...I bet it is a mess. It makes me think of a clip from an old movie favorite of mine (Funny Farm):
