Be safe Kelley and we wish you the very best! :salute:

Mr Gollum  will be OK.

Prayers and Good Thoughts to the whole family.

Thoughts and prayers for Kelley's well being. :lilangel:

:salute: THANK YOU, Kelley for having the courage to serve. :salute:

Know that where ever you go, the forum folks support you.

Gollum, you have every right to be very, very proud of your daughter.....in my eyes she is a hero! :salute: :salute: :salute:

Thanks everyone so very much. I am very very proud of Kellye. Even if I did try to talk her out of it. She will be doing her basic and ait at Fort Leonard Wood MO. Don't know where he will be stationed at yet. Hopefully Fort Campble KY. On about 2 hours drive from here. Once again thanks. :(

Ft. Leonard Wood isn't too bad as far as basic goes, Gollum. She should like it there. You can usually tell where she might end up being stationed by her MOS.

 Sorry, old buddy.Thats ARMY talk for : What job is she going to have? For instance, I was in Chemical warfare and only certain bases taught that. Same with most fields. Ft. Campbell is home of the 101st Airborne for example.

Chemical warfare?

So that explains your behavior!

Gollum, my best wishes go out to your daughter and to you.

We are all thankful for her commitment and sacrifice for our country.

:salute:

She tried to get in to medical but couldn't. So belive it or not them are going to make her an MP. At 5' 7'' and 125lbs. I don't see it but that's the Army.

Ohhhh! 96Bravo, eh?? Tough outfit. They used to train primarily at Ft. McClellan with us Chemical warfare boys----in fact, we were big rivals. But I see from your first response she is taking AIT at Leonard Wood, which is also a big MP base especilally since Ft. Mc here in 'Bama shut down. Hopefully, she will get deployed locally as all the bases have MP's.

I wish her and your family all the best. :salute: :salute:

Yep I am really hopeing she can get Fort Campbell. The recruiter told her she had a good chance. But you know how they are. They will tell you anything.

Like they told me, you mean? "Heavy machinery operator, most likely". Yeah...try mustard gas for breakfast. Damned recruiters. <_<

I gurantee that all of us here at R-F will be wishing her the very best. Please keep us up to date Gollum

Chemical warfare huh? Ever been to the Anniston Army Depot? I live about a mile from there. They gave us the cool masks, air ventilators, plastic, and duct tape to keep us from gettin gassed! Yep, this is a great place to live...

Gollum, You, Kelley and your family will be in my prayers.

Thank Kelley for us please. I am sure even at 5'7" 125, she will make a great MP.

Actually I lived on old 78 hi-way. Not far from Coldwater.
Yep! Know where that is! I live in Wellborn, there's a back gate to the depot on my road.

Yeah, I know exactly where the gate is! Used to know that whole area pretty good . Back when Ft. Mc was open it was a cool place around Oxford, we would go to Oxford rather than Anniston because the law wasn't as bad there.

Damn those gestapo's!! I guess we ruined it for ya'll, as they were getting bad by the time I got transferred. Uhh---sorry about that.

Gollum, you must be very proud of your daughter and I'd like to extend that all of us are very proud of her and we give a thanks for her service.

I'm going to enlist in the Army Reserve or Active Duty, I'm not sure yet, in November when I'm 17, requires parental permission but I'm pretty sure my mom's going to agree, and my brother of course the sarge will most likely agree also, his 6 years is almost up. I just gotta lose a couple pounds I've been putting on. :)

:salute:

My Bro is in the Chemical Warfare Unit, like I said, his six years is almost up. I'm not sure if he'll stay in the Army or not but a weird thing happened yesterday when we were watching Outbreak, he pointed out every single error, I mean down to the bone. He's almost a college graduate, and if I'm not mistaken, after you get 60 credits which is the equivalent of a college graduate, you can get a direct commission?

He and the unit were mobilized to be deployed for operation Iraqi Freedom. Something mustve came up because they werent deployed and were sent home basically. With everyone knowing how bad its starting to become in Iraq and with the heavy fighting going on now over there, I know its his job to make us safe, but I'm happy and thankful he's home

Now He's mentioned lots of things, MOPP Gear? BIDS? My head is spinning round and round and round from that

MOPP gear is charcoal lined chemical protective gear. Not pleasant either as it will sweat you to death. Almost dehydrate you as he no doubt knows by now. Wish him luck every time he speaks the word.Wearing those things in the original Gulf-conflict in that heat was not a pretty site at all. I still have nightmares about it. Fortunately, the climate is slightly different over there now, with less concern of Chemical attack----back then we didn't know what to expect.

Also, you can get a direct commision with a certain amount of credited points equalling a college degree---particularly in times of conflict. Wish him luck for me and tell him to keep up the good work.
