Although his death was tragic and sad, there are still a lot of great stories about him and the days when NASCAR was still about REAL drivers and REAL races. For me, one of the most hilarious stories was of him and Rich Bickle drinking together in the pits after a race.

Dick Trickle and Rich Bickle drinking together in the pits - with that pair of names, sounds like something out of Saturday Night Live!

Awesome article. :)
Any chance Brian France reads this and stops ****ing up the sport? Prolly not.
Dick used to come out to Saugus Speedway, when I was a kid, and run with an almost-unheard-of Ron Hornaday and Tru Cheek. Saugus was a 1/3 mile, flat oval, so flat that locals swore it was off-camber. Always a pleasure to watch Dick come out and rattle the locals.
Dick Trickle was a short track legend.
