Craven and Roush to Part Ways After 2005

CONCORD, N.C. - Roush Racing and Ricky Craven announced today that they will part ways at the end of the 2005 season. Craven currently drives Roush's No. 99 Superchips Ford F-150 entry in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

"I want to thank Jack Roush for the opportunity he has given me to drive for him in the Craftsman Truck Series this year," Craven said. "Roush Racing is an incredible organization and I have the utmost respect for everyone there. I have also truly enjoyed racing in the truck series. The competition is outstanding and I've had a lot of fun this season. My goal right now is still to get the No. 99 Superchips Ford F-150 in victory lane before the season ends."

"Ricky's experience, talent and professionalism have benefited our entire truck operation this year," said Jack Roush. "He has helped our crew chiefs, managers and engineers as well as serving as a mentor to rookie Todd Kluever. We wish Ricky the best of luck in his pursuit of other professional racing opportunities for 2006."

Even Ricky's website is quite blase on the subject and I have a feeling we'll never know what really happened.
Best of luck to Ricky, and I hope he wins every race for the rest of the 2005 season.

I think they fired the wrong person.
Ricky was doing good until the CC change and Todd was doing bad. After the change Todd did well and Ricky's performance sucked. Tells me the CC has a problem getting these trucks setup properly.

Whatever the reason I hate to see Ricky go. Hope he picks up a ride somehwere. We need more people the caliber of Ricky in racing.

He is one class act, IMO, and I hope he picks up a new ride soon! I find it interesting that with all the race sites I belong to that there hasn't even been a rumor about him leaving.

Perhaps Ricky was upset with Jack giving the ride to McMurray instead of him. We really don't know what promises may have been made. I also like Ricky, he was a class act indeed.
Am I repeating myself, old age I guess. :)

You know, with all these drivers leaving Jack--for one reason or another-- could Jack have spread his resources too thin to give all his teams adequate "stuff" to do the job?

I mean 5 Cup teams, a Busch team, 2 Truck teams --- that's got to be a load. Plus all the engine work he does for other Ford teams.

Haven't seen anything else about this yet. Maybe the truck is being vacated for Martin in '06 ??Even if so, I'd think he'd keep Ricky in a truck & try Kleuver in the 60 busch ride OR let Ricky have the 60 next year. Kinda weird, though.

At this point......Who Knows ??? The 17 car is actually in Martin's name, too. What happens with that ?? I know it's still Roush's car but I wouldn't want my name on it after I'd left.

Sorry, I have never liked nor trusted JR. He almost forces his drivers to swear allegiance to him; Jeff Burton kept swearing his loyalty to Jack................................. till he left!!!!!
And Kurt, (not one of MY favs) leaving. Jack has contracts that totally benefit HIM and NOT his drivers, and they are locked in for the duration.
Makes me wonder if there isn't a clause in that contract that says something like, "thou shalt be loyal, and totally dedicated to me and will NEVER bad mouth me or my operation as long as you live. It's ok for me to pay you peanuts and take all the $$$$$ and glory and run your racing life to my rules, and you will never forget it." LOL JMHO, you understand.
