Year two of the NASCAR Camping World Chevrolet Silverado 250 race at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park was everything it was hoped to be - an enormous success both on and off the track.

The campgrounds at CTMP’s 750-acre facility 80 km east of Toronto were jam packed and the drive in crowd was just as impressive, even on a day that promised but never delivered rain.

NASCAR bosses have already made the decision to come back to CTMP next season with the Trucks, but is there more in store for the Carlo Fidani, Ron Fellows owned track?

Sources close to the sanctioning body in Daytona have told the Toronto Sun that something else - a Nationwide Series race perhaps - is already in the discussion stage for 2016.

The only thing missing was Wallace getting his hair pulled, perhaps they can fly Stephen in next year and make that happen

Fantastic!! hopeful news for us "we need more road racing" fans out there, Mosport is a great track, and Ron Fellows is a prince of a man/racer.

I missed it.. was supposed to go but had a stupid wedding lol... oh well.... glad it was successful... I have a friend that knows Norm Benning so Im pretty sure I can get access to some cool places.

I will be buying my tickets well in advance for years to come!

...anyone hear about the track they're building in Fort Erie? "The Great Canadian Speedway" designed by Jeff Gordon, a 1 mile oval and 1.5 mile road course from what I hear. Can't wait until they're done with that. I've also heard rumours of potential CWTS and NNS races there.

How do you know the wedding was successful? I mean, they're married now but divorce rates being so high, sheesh. I wish them the best.

Just kidding, SB. :)

As far as I know... latest I've heard is that it was bought by someone.. something about Buffalo... cant find anything on that but I found this

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_Motor_Speedway

On September 7, 2010 the planning staff of the Town of Fort Erie submitted a recommendation report No. CDS-048-10 to council to approve the re-zoning application, of Canadian Motor Speedway.[10] The report was accepted and Fort Erie Town council voted unanimously to approve the re-zoning By-law No. 106-10 for the property for Canadian Motor Speedway after the third reading on September 13, 2010.[11][12] The 821 acre (332 hectare) site of the Canadian Motor Speedway is considered a Special Policy Area for the use of motorsport related activities.

Appeals against the development were taken to the Ontario Municipal Board for hearing in June 2012.
[13] A decision was rendered on November 5, 2012 to approve the development and allow it to proceed, with certain holding provisions, to the next stage in the development process.

On October 9, 2013, construction began. The speedway is expected to be completed by 2016

...its a 2 mile road course and a .75 mile D-Shaped oval... so Im (excitedly) guessing it will be something like Richmond :D:D:D

LOL Well... I meant the race :D

Canadian Motor Speedway features many unique aspects for the racetrack layout and the total development. The design team features 4-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon, and renowned speedway architect Paxton Waters. The development is made up of three core areas, the oval and road course, centrally located, the research and development area to the south and east of the site, and the Commercial area to the north. The major parking and camping areas are located to the immediate west and southwest of the development. It resembles Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois in many ways.

From that same link... guess not so much like richmond... but asmaller version of chicagoland? which I guess would somewhat resemble richmond lol i wonder how banked itll be

Im actually starting to get pretty excited... between this track and the truck/nns races at MoSport.

Maybe some time I'll go take a look at what they have done so far and take some pictures to show u guys. Its only about a half hour from me.

CMS will feature Canada’s first Jeff Gordon Design TM 3/4 mile progressively banked oval track (banking not exceeding 16⁰), as well as an integrated 2 mile FIA / FIM grade road course. The road course will be connected to the oval through a system of unique tunnels. This design also enables each track to operate independently on a given day to accommodate multiple racing events. As CMS progresses towards track completion and inspection, formal announcements will be made with respect to specific event rosters and schedules

Awesome.

That looks nothing like Chicago more like Richmond with more rounded corners.
