A significant boost for Kyle and the Petty family's project.
Goody's Gives $1 Million to Victory Junction Gang Camp
Goody's Headache Powder has announced its commitment to the Victory Junction Gang Camp by pledging a $1 million gift. The Goody's contribution will be directed to "The Body Shop," the camp's fully staffed medical center.
In announcing the gift, Darren Singer, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare Vice President-Marketing for Goody's, said, "Knowing that the Petty family was devoting their energy, spirit and land to the camp, we knew we had to be involved in a big way," Singer said. "Goody's relationship with Richard Petty, Adam Petty's grandfather, goes back more than 25 years and he is a part of our family. When you combine that history with this magical place, everyone on the Goody's team got behind the project." The million dollar donation is one the largest gifts ever to be awarded by a single GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare brand.
"At this time in the life of our country, we're thrilled to have the opportunity to do something meaningful to bring joy to the lives of children. Goody's and GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare hope that our commitment to Victory Junction will inspire other companies and our trading partners to step up and contribute to the hope that Victory Junction represents," Singer added. "I'm really overwhelmed by the generosity of Goody's," said Richard Petty. "Goody's has always been there for me and I look forward to our families working together to make the Victory Junction dream a reality. Victory Junction is in the early phases of its $24 million campaign to get the camp fully operational by the Summer of 2004 and the Goody's contribution is a very meaningful first step to achieving that goal."
