Goodyear exits short track circuit

We have a similar issue in drag racing. M/T is the only big company making a tire smaller than 28". Goodyear only does 28 and up, I'm not sure what Hoosier does/doesn't do.

Hoosier gives IMHO the best bang for the buck for short track racers. McCreary and American Racer IIRC, were junk. When we had to run Goodyears our tire budget got killed.
na$car should allow Hoosier back in.

The competition between Goodyear and Hoosier hurt the sport. They weren't interested in durable tires, just fast tires. The fast tires were often unreliable tires. The outcome of many races were affected by the tires.

I think this is a good thing. Goodyear has the large series, Hoosier gets the smaller series. If tracks were wise, they would start seeking foreign tire maker interest just to keep Hoosier from raising prices too much.

I'm not a Goodyear "Hater" butt Goodyear leaving short track racing is the Best thing that will ever happen for many racers and race tracks. The Hoosiers are more durable, much more consistent thru a run and Far more consistent tire to tire not to mention more economical. I believe once the racers change over to the Hossiers the racing will be better the feilds will grow and Fans will get their Butts back in the stands.
Thank You Goodyear!

When we'd go down Speedweeks and run New Smyrna on Goodyears after running Hoosiers up here the truck was a completely different "beast".

I think World of Outlaws precipitated this when they announced at the end of the year that they were going back to Hoosier. A lot of sprint car drivers were less than happy with them leaving Hoosier to begin with. And at least one (Sammy Swindell) blasted Goodyear on live TV.

Locals here have been struggling to get their hands on any good Pheonix molds. Apparently they cut production a few years ago, and all you can get is what's been sitting on shelves.

Have you called Mike Crutchfield ? His number is 800.531.0855 Tell him I sent you !!! Bobby Johns down in Miami might still have some in stock from his Firestone days

There's 3 guys here that still run pheonix, I'll pass the info along!

They were at the PRI show in Orlando , so I would guess they are still serious about selling the tires. I sold them at tracks when they were Firestones and was always impressed they worked all the way to the cords for guys.

Hope they dont let the door hit em in the ass on the way out. Goodyear's dirt tires have sucked for years. Only tracks around here that run goodyear racing tires are asphalt tracks that have the nascar sanction which is only one in rockford.
