Notes: This is the first time Goodyear has brought this combination of left- and right-side tires to Darlington . . . both the NASCAR Nextel Cup and Busch Series teams will run the same tire set-up this weekend . . . this is the only track at which Nextel Cup teams will run this tire set-up in 2006 . . . Busch teams have run this tire once before -- at Nashville last month . . . as on all ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run inner liners in all four tire positions at Darlington . . . air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.

Goodyear Quote -- Mark Keto, Lead Engineer, Stock Car Racing: "The only change with the tires compared to last year at Darlington is a different left-side construction. The right-side construction and the compounds are virtually unchanged. Obviously, the biggest factor with the tires at Darlington is high wear, brought on by the extremely rough track surface. We expect to see more than two seconds of give-up per lap over the course of a full fuel run."

I think they should stick to one tire composition for all tracks, the competition is already good without them trying to make it "better".

Well in theory that sounds real good, but as the surface of each track is different it really won't work. Look what happened at Lowes last year, and the publics reation.
The heck with the fact Humpy screwed the track up.
To heck with the fact the teams and drivers were pushing beyound the limitations of the tires because of a totally screwed up track.......... It was ALL Goodyears fault!

But, if they had 1 tire for all of the tracks sooner or later some teams might figure out how far to push the tire before it came apart. I would think the racing would be better. The teams would begin to build up data for the different tracks and could respond better. Now they have to guess and hope they find the proper setup.

Maybe GOODYEAR should be fined BIG TIME for "ACTIONS DETRIMENTAL TO NASCAR"
