When is Goodyear going to get a clue and stop supplying NASCAR with crap? Every weekend we hear from the drivers just how frustrating it is to drive on the clay tires. How many drivers are going to have to eat the fence?
I wouldn't run Goodyear tires on my mower.
O.K., I'm done with this rant...

i agree. I'd say some goodyear official somewhere is getting his ear bit off about now. At least jusging by rowdy's interview.

it's really ridiculous now. It's a problem every weekend with every team/manufacturer.

Wow, and how about what Tony said right after the race. I look for NASCAR to have a chat with him as this is not what NASCAR likes to hear from it's drivers. But one thing they should do and that is listen to the drivers instead of the tire manufacturer.

Tony was right. I'm glad he's not afraid to say what he's thinking.

i think tony and robby should team up on this topic. NASCAR wouldn't know what to do. A pair of hotheads speaking their minds....Imagine the T-shirt sales!!!!

Maybe it is time to bring back the tire wars.

Remember when Goodyear had competition with Hoosier?

Might bring a little more interest back into the sport too.

As for Goodyears...... I had two of them blister on the front of my truck last year. One was the side of a grapefruit on the sidewall. I replaced them with Michilens but now the boss wants us to put Goodyears on because he gets such a good price on them.

I know that I will be stopping and checking them more often in the summer time when I am on the road. I can except one tire as a fluke but two in one summer is just too much.

Check your camber ;)

My truck come with Goodyears on it. It bounced like a basketball. No more Goodyears for me.

Tony Stewart :XXROFL:

I didn't watch hardly any of the race, but I heard his commentary.

I thought it was awesome when i saw Tony say that today!

Toyo sponsors Robby in his off road truck right?

I got some Hooiser and American Racer, racing tires for my racecar. I also have 2 Goodyear Wingfoots street tires i raced on the car last year, may not be good on the street but they are good for the dirt track!

I LOVED what Tony had to say. My husband and I were sitting here cracking up! He was just saying it on a bigger platform what all the other drivers have been complaining about. GO TONY! Tell it like it IS!!! :beerbang: :beerbang:

Dale Jr and Jeff basically backed Tony up ---

Yes they did, but Tony will get a talking to by the big boys at Nascar...you can bet they are pissed by the way he went about his rant and the way he said it. Tony tends to engage is mouth before really thinking sometimes, don't get me wrong. i love passion like that, but i think he could of gone about it a little differently.

Didn't NASCAR want drivers to feel more free to speak their minds this year?

This is their shot to prove it.

NASCAR won't and shouldn't fine a driver for speaking his opinion. They might have a "chat" with him, but that's about it.

I think we will see more of this problem as long as they run two different types of cars on the same weekend at the same track. Goodyear ought to figure out a way to make the tires visibly different to prevent cheating and to allow the different cars (Cup and NNS) run their own tire.

Cousin Carl said that the tires weren't that good but they were the same for everyone and they weren't blowing out. Paul Memard said they were a lot of fun cause they slipped and slid alover and he enjoyed it. So I don't know what the answer is, I gues the answer is NASCAR will do what they want and the drivers will follow. Duane:rolleyes:

I don't think a tire war is good thing.
When hoosier came in around 93 or 94 the competition got out of hand.
One would bring a softer tire for better grip and the other would out do them the next week. The end result was Ernie Irvan almost got killed and the results soon ended his promising career.
Stick with one but do it right.

Jr also said that the car was just out of control and that you just don't like driving cars like that. He also said that they couldn't race side-by-side or they would wreck.

Jeff Gordon stated "there is just no reason for this. This car, this tire at this racetrack was just terrible".

Mark Martin simply stated..."I can't drive it".

I don't think that Nascar will come down on the drivers as much as they will Goodyear. I believe that Goodyear will be given a good talk by Nascar.

Aw....what are the *****in' about.

How would they like to ride on one of these.

Chad Knaus said something interesting tonight on TWIN --- he said this car has 35% LESS downforce than the old car. Combined with the hard tire that makes a hard combination to get a handle on.

Yeh you would think because of all the data on this car Good Year would be giving these guys a stickier tire? I don't get it, unless providing them with a stickier tire will mean that the tire wear will be horrible? All i know is there will be a lot of tempers out of control at Bristol if Good Year comes with a horrible tire this week!!!

What got me was the closing comments at the end of the race after Tony went off on Goodyear.

Larry Mac was quick to make excuses for Goodyear and play down the controversy. Would someone tell me how Larry Mac could know so much about what it going on with the tires?

Seems to me that he has no experience as a crew chief or a crew member with the new style car. He has been out of the loop and has been spending most of his time on broadcasting.

Sort of irritates me that he is making comments to downplay the problem without any real first hand information. Let the people involved duke it out. Just report the news!
