I personally hope Gordon rallies. He is the champion under the new system, and did get toally screwed.

My laughing's over, time to be serious.

re

I'm not a fan of either but Gordon deserves it. Love him or hate him he's the best there is

Jeff should have just won his 6th Cup.....but i know you cant go with should of's and could of's......i am hoping Jeff can come back and win the title!

4 wins in a row...

10 this season.

If winning a race matters in this sport, it has to be Jimmie.

Yes, however Gordon has 6 wins which isn't anything to sneeze at and has a 441 point lead ove Johnson using the old system. By any standard Jeff has had an absolutely outstanding year.

This is all that matters to me. This explains to me who the real Champion is.
They can take these bs, mickey-mouse stats since the Chase and stuff 'em where the sun won't get at 'em...

Definitely want Gordon to win but I dont think there is a chance to win with 1 race left and he is behind 86 points. I dont even think a DNF in the first lap by Johnson and Gordon winning would be enough to cover the deficit..:(

Jimmie would have to finish worse than 18th if Jeff wins.

They will take each other out and Clint will win it!:bounce:

Clint is too far back to win the Championship. That would have had to have happened this past Sunday and then he'd still have to run better than Jimmie because he'd still be out about 80 points or so.

These are some interesting numbers...
JJ clinches ...
• 18th place or better, even if Jeff Gordon wins and leads the most laps
• 19th place or better if he leads one lap
• 21st place or better if he leads the most laps

1 -- Times Gordon has out-pointed Johnson by 87 or more points at Homestead (100 points in 2005).

4 -- Times this year Gordon has out-pointed Johnson by 87 or more points:
• Daytona on Feb. 18 -- 88 points
• Texas on April 15 -- 121 points
• Pocono on June 10 -- 153 points
• Indianapolis on July 29 -- 119 points

But then again...
218 -- Races in which Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon have raced against each other:

• Wins -- Johnson leads 33-23
• Top-five finishes -- Tied with 86
• Top-10 finishes -- Johnson leads 133-127
• Average finish -- Johnson leads 12.0-13.1

So maybe its not over... ;)

Or, is the question can Jimmie keep his Drive for 5 alive. 5 wins in a row. The last driver to win five in a row was Richard Petty in 1971: Malta, Islip, Trenton, Nashville and Atlanta.

In their media press at homestead it was brought up, that because Jeff is listed as the car owner of the 48, He could park the 48 this weekend!! LOL,, Then all he would have to do is basically finish the race!!! That's to funny!!!!

I don't think it's any secret who I want to win the championship!! I was really surprised that during Nascar Now on Thurs. (I think) they interviewed Jeff and Rick about Jeff being robbed of two championships under the Chase system. I mean...this was ESPN! Well, it wasn't Rusty so I guess that explains why someone might have that to say about Jeff.

I'm getting far too much enjoyment out of Jimmie's mishaps during the season and last year at Homestead when they replay them. I'm hoping the truck race is some indication of the final result of the Cup race. :) Jimmie's 4 races in a row are impressive, but Jeff still would have him beat. He's been the most consistent driver this year. Isn't that who the champion should be? And yes... I would think this even if one of the drivers I wasn't too fond of was in the same position.

Personally, even though I'm not a fan of either, I think it's working good this year, and the guy with the most WINS will be the champion. Yeah, a 300 point loss is tough to swallow, but at least this year, they did add some worth to winning races.

That makes sense to me as those top four are who I personally consider to be the top four drivers in Nascar.

Of course I have no facts to back that up - just an opinion :)
