Gordon whining over fuel mileage

ya know, if Jeff made that simple comment like that, and we called it whining.....Jeff nation would be up are arses like a bad enima.
anyways....

Couldn't the style of driving have something to do with it, or his engine tuners?

Gas Milage

Maybe he should get a Toyota, mine gets good gas mileage.

JPM wasn't driving a 'Yota. Neither was kevin and he was ordered to "conserve" gas.

But 1/4 of a mile per gal. is a lot of shorted fuel. Gotta be a reason.

I got this from another board-

Robby 34 laps divided by 18 Gallons = 1.889 Gallons per lap

Juan 43 laps diveded by 18 Gallons = 2.389 Gallons per lap

Robby 34 Laps X Track lenght 1.99 Miles = 67.66 Miles divided by 18 Gallons = 3.76 MPG

Juan 43 Laps X Track lenght 1.99 Miles = 85.57 Miles Divided by 18 Gallons = 4.75 MPG

3.76 / 4.75 = 21% Better Fuel Economy for Juan

Based on both tanks being empty after the race and both tanks filled at there pit stops. They both ran Green Laps for the last 43 laps

Juan average over 1 MPG better than Robby!

well I'm sure he isn't employing idiots who don't know how to fill up a car. They would've had to really screw up to make it THAT bad EVERYTIME.

and remember, everybody is still stumped by this fuel cell. They say it's 18 gallons, but hammond said some people were getting close to 19.2 gallons crammed in it. So the size of the filler and catch hose matters too.anywhere you can fit extra fuel, by all means fit it!

Gordon used alot of fuel staying up front - IMO - and I don't think for a second that Burton, Boyer and Harvick ALL have the same driving style.

Of course, as some say on here, you're mileage may vary.

Remember when Jr Johnson rigged it for fuel to go thru the roll bars so he would have more? I might add he got caught.

Well if that's the case then Nascar needs to inspect all these cars and start levying fines, points deductions and cc suspensions. From what a bunch of y'all have been saying you can't tamper with any part of the COT and this would be tampering. Suspend them all I say. Let Busch West drivers step up and drive... ;)

UHHHH, I think that was Smokey Yunick.
And he did not get caught. Smokey removed the gas tank after NASCAR inspected the car looking for the extra storage. Yunick then got in the car and drove it away.

Smokey had a history of trying to piss off Bill France and Bill France, Jr..
Although "innovative", Smokey was a rebel with a cause.
To do everything he could to buck the rules and establishment of racing. Smokey makes Chad Knauss, Gary Nelson and Junior Johnson, look like beginners when it comes to finding "gray areas" or outright "in your face" flaunting of the rules. And cheating. :)

Robbie Gordon deserves a whole platter of congrats for his race at Infineon. He did a great job and, unfortunately, got caught up in the fuel mileage thing.

At the end, it did look like Montoya had a faster car than RGordon, but can you imagine what a show it would have been to see those two aggressive and super road course specialists go head to head for the win ????

Robbie might not have finished that well but he drove a great race.

Did nascar make them use a smaller fuel cell or has it always been that size? If they did go down in size, then why? I think it's pretty stupid to have races determined by fuel milage. If they teams did not have to "gamble" every pit stop then the drivers could just go out there and race and not have to worry about gas. I understand that there is no way around having to stop for fuel but there has got to be a better way to have a race winner.

If the cars could hold another five gallons or so then the end result Sunday would have been more cars going for the win. Harvick was hanging back and waiting for the two guys in front to run out of gas. How lame is that?

But then again, one more caution would have changed everything I think.

they changed to the "18" gallon fuel cell for all races thir year so that fuel and tire runs would be closer together, there woulldnt be people on track showing cords trying to finish off the fuel load. It was basically done to make goodyear look good.
