Al Gore just announced that he would not run in 2004. I think it is a good thing but I just don't like Gore. How do you feel.

I think that Al is a good man, and personally would make a great friend. However, I don't like his politics and I really don't believe he runs his own show. When he was running against Dubwa, he should have run away with it, but every time you saw him, he was someone else. I'm sure the main Democratic party is glad to hear that he is out of the picture now.

I agree with ya Buck. I was more worried about Tipper getting in there than Al. But I think Al is pretty funny on TV. Actually have seen a hint of a personality here lately :)

A couple of years ago, Al was on with David Letterman, and I actually enjoyed his presence. Yeah, he probably has a fairly decent personality when he steps out of politics, but then again, I would imagine most of them are that way. Jeez, I don't know if I could like Clinton, but then again, I'd bet he could throw quite the party. I've heard it said that he can make friends with anyone.

I don't know if I wont to be Clintons friend. Paul listed a few friends that are no longer around.

I'm figuring those were enemies. Once you get to know the man, ya hafta stay on his good side. Me, I'm not worryin' cause I'll never get to meet up with him anyway.

Kinda makes ya wonder why he dropped out all of a sudden...he was leading in most polls.

Bush promised gore he would share the money he makes from the oil companies after we go to war with iraq if he wouldn't run. jk jk :p

When did Gore announce that?

And did anyone see Gore on Saturday Night Live?

Gore sucks.
he was on 60 minutes and he was saying that the reason the economy is the way it is, is because of bush. no it isn't. it's because of the mess him and slick willy left us.
and if Gore tried to run again any ways, i don't think people will forget that crap he pulled in 2000.

the economy WITHOUT gore:
the economy WITH gore: :chainsaw: <gore kills the econ.

He might have announced it today. It has been on CNN and Fox News all day.

I kind of hoped he would run because I don't think there is any way he would beat Bush this time either.

4xer, I don't think he could win either, but there's a long time before the next election and anything can happen. Remember the last time a Bush was in the White House. His popularity was pretty high about a year before the election, but things turned on a dime.

I HAVE POSTED THIS BEFORE!!!!

Anyone remember this?? It was 1987!

At a lecture the other day they were playing an old news video of
Lt..Col. Oliver North testifying at the Iran Contra hearings during
the Reagan Administration.

There was Ollie in front of God and country getting the third
degree, but what he said was stunning!

He was being drilled by some senator; "Did you not recently spend
close to $60,000 for a home security system?"

Ollie replied, "Yes, I did, Sir."

The senator continued, trying to get a laugh out of the
audience, "Isn't that just a little excessive?"

"No, sir," continued Ollie.

"No? And why not?" the senator asked.

"Because the lives of my family and I were threatened, sir."

"Threatened? By whom?" the senator questioned.

"By a terrorist, sir" Ollie answered.

"Terrorist? What terrorist could possibly scare you that much?"

"His name is Osama bin Laden, sir" Ollie replied.

At this point the senator tried to repeat the name, but couldn't
pronounce it, which most people back then probably couldn't. A couple
of people laughed at the attempt. Then the senator continued. Why are
you so afraid of this man?" the senator asked.

"Because, sir, he is the most evil person alive that I know of",
Ollie answered.

"And what do you recommend we do about him?" asked the senator.

"Well, sir, if it was up to me, I would recommend that an assassin
team be formed to eliminate him and his men from the face of the
earth."

The senator disagreed with this approach, and that was all that was
shown of the clip.

By the way, that senator was Al Gore

Also: Terrorist pilot Mohammad Atta blew up a bus in Israel in 1986.
The Israelis captured, tried and imprisoned him. As part of the Oslo
agreement with the Palestinians in 1993, Israel had to agree to
release so-called "political prisoners".

However, the Israelis would not release any with blood on their
hands. The American President at the time, Bill Clinton, and his
Secretary of State, Warren Christopher, "insisted" that all prisoners
be released. Thus Mohammad Atta was freed and eventually thanked the
US by flying an airplane into Tower One of the World Trade Center.

This was reported by many of the American TV networks at the time
that the terrorists were first identified.

It was censored in the US from all later reports.

The Truth:
According to the Congressional Record, there was no mention of Osama Bin Laden during the Iran-Contra hearings by Oliver North or anyone else. In fact, there was no mention of Osama Bin Laden in the Congressional Record at all in 1987, the year of the hearings.

Also, Senator Al Gore was not a member of the joint House-Senate Iran-Contra Committee and did not do any of the questioning.

One of the charges against North at that time, however, was his accepting a security system for his home as a gift. He said he needed it because of threats against himself and his family by Palestinian terrorist Abu Nidal.

Paul Bedard whose column WASHINGTON WHISPERS appears on USNEWS.com contacted North who confirmed that he never referenced Bin Laden who, in fact, became a friend of the U.S. against Soviet invaders of Afghanistan

Well... Gore was our only good chance left... I hate to see him go! Atleast the man was truthful and spoke the way he saw things... I really think he should be President right now...

I guess thats what happens when ya have family ties in a state where the ballots have to be re-counted more times than ya can remember...

I really don't know what to think of that, but it sure smells funny. I have no proof, but I'd really like to know what happened. If nothing else it makes the family look crooked.

Being a lifelong Tennesseean, I assure the rest of the nation that Al Gore is the worst possible choice for any elected office which he may now or ever seek, including but not limited to dog catcher. I turned cartwheels when I saw his announcement not to run. One less thing to worry about.

Here's a thought. Had Gore carried HIS HOME STATE like every other candidate in the history of Presidential politics has done, Florida would not have mattered. But we know the man, and you see who we voted for.

and it was something that blew this world all to hell...

I cant even think of one thing Bush has done for us, besides put us in a hole with Iraq and N. Korea..

You'll notice it April 15th.

One more thing. This whole Trent Lott mess is being blown up to such huge proportions simply because this administration has not had the weekly sex scandal that the Klinton Years gave us, and this is the closest thing the DNC has had to sling as mud. That to me speaks volumes for the ethical standards of this administration and the man in charge. We have heard nothing about interns being molested since 2000. I like that.

molested??? Monica Lewinski was a willing 22 year old woman.....

And you say racial discrimination is less harmful than some illicit sex???

And with Jeb Bush being re-elected in Florida, Gore knows he can't get that State in 2004 again either....

Who said I was talking about Monica Lewinski?

And since when is complimenting a man turning 100 a racial statement?

Looking for mud are we? Good luck.

BTW, I don't care for Lott that much. Just strikes me as amusing how far the politically correct horde will go to find something to try and taint this administration. Funny, we didn't have to search this hard with Klinton. He always provided us plenty of ammo.

"Racial discrimination"? Quick, someone call Al Sharpton! Gotta stop those big racists!

The votes in Flordia were counted about 6 times. 4 of those were by Dems. Gore lost all 6 times the votes just wern't there for him to win.

"the weekly sex scandal that the Klinton Years gave us"

Who were you talking about, Barney Frank??? :p

The Florida voting was rigged, you can't count votes that were never cast....

That's a new name to add to the list. Lemme see, page 37...

Oh, and DEF3...let's say for the sake of argument that Lott was somehow discriminating against Blacks with his comments...which is worse making comments like that or race-baiting and trying to widen the existing rift between Whites and Blacks?

Gore and Klintoon were masters at doing just that...if there were going to be a cut in a social program or whatnot the Liberal whackos immediately played the race card, "Well, Bush must hate Blacks because he want's to cut welfare". I find using tactics like that much more damaging then someone speaking their mind.

Playing on people's fears in order to get votes, how noble...good thing you're out there watching out for us...protecting us from the big bad guys and dictating what is right and wrong, and casting down comments like "Racist" so easily when, in fact, the sneakier methods of race-baiting employed by your party are far more damaging to forward progress in this country than any comments made by Lott.

There is a big difference between practicing discrimination and simply pointing it out..... :(

And if you want to call pointing out injustice, "baiting", then so be it.....

See...liberals think they're the gaurdians of justice in the country.

It's called playing on people's fears to gain votes.

So what's your take on the radio show host I saw this morning on the news? A gentleman of color, he stated that (and this is a direct quote), "The Democratic Party's function is to watch out for us...the black people." Is that a racist comment that should offend me? Or is it OK to use race when one is not Caucasian?

Come on, TWF. You have been around long enough to know that is OK to use race as a crutch as long as you are not Caucasian.

I for one was very happy to see Gore gone. I saw nothing wrong with Lott's statement. I was however very offended by the morning news with the Radio Talk show host they had on.

Who dug that hole? I'll give you a hint, his initials are WJC.

I got out of the Marines in 1994. I wanted to re-enlist back into the infantry field or the MP field. My cutting score was high enough for me to get promoted to Sgt, but I would get promoted unless I re-uped. Well, due to "cutbacks", the only field that was open was electronics.

What sense does it make to cut back the military? Especially the infantry?

No one to blame but Slick Willy

Gotta cutback military spending because the money being spent there could be spent in "social programs". And if you aren't spending money in social programs you must be a racist, or you hate old people.

At least you back up your statements with documentation.

Lincoln's second principle..."You cannot help small men by tearing down big men."

Lincoln's seventh principle..."You cannot further brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred."

It's high time some factions of this nation spent a little more time working and making a difference and a little less time sitting around whining and waiting for handouts, quotas, government assistance programs, and hollering "discrimination" every time something isn't given to them on a silver platter.
