Well, it finally happened, I got called up to the majors. Now instead of teaching ESL for a "private" school (doing college prep), I have finally been hired by the local County school district to teach ESL at one of the high schools and two of the elementary schools. I'm very excited to get the job because it brings benefits with it as well as a guaranteed paycheck AND security...also, summers off...paid.
It will be a bit of a change as I will now be teaching mostly hispanic students as opposed to my current mostly asian students, but I can adapt. If I wind up at a different high school in the county, closer to my house, I will be teaching mostly Eastern Europeans such as our large population of Bosnians.
I have to go back to school to get my certification, but I don't really care because once I get the certificate, my pay jumps up around 10K a year. So, hooray for me!
