And do you smoke? Bristol is now smoke free in the stands. This from a law passed by the legislature. Could make things interesting in how the ushers control this...

I'd love to see The Free State try and do that at Maryland International.

Bristol won't sell out, imo.

In accordance with a new Tennessee state law, all grandstand, terrace, suite, and restroom areas at Bristol Motor Speedway and Dragway now are non-smoking. This became effective October 1, 2007. The General Assembly of the State of Tennessee passed the "Non-Smoker Protection Act" in May and Governor Phil Bredesen signed it into law in June 2007. The Act prohibits smoking in most public facilities, including "sports arenas." Guests may still smoke in our concourse area, but grandstand, terrace and suite seating areas will be non-smoking.

Tenessee and Maryland must be working together. :(

TIME MACHINE

Who wants to go back in time 25 years and tell Winston Cup fans that they would no longer be able to smoke in the stands at the races watching Juan Pablo race Dario Franchitti in the Sprint Cup Series?

You'd drown in all the Copenhagen they'd spit at you. :XXROFL:

This was a state decision. Some (no sellouts) said the same thing about University of Tennessee football games. That law didn't effect them in any way.

I love this law. The couple that sits in front of me every year are smokers and their smoke ends up in my face the whole race.

It will have no effect on ticket sales. Bristol will still sell out.

Hmmm, I thought the law was for Tennessee.

It is but I think you'll probably see more anti-smoking laws for sports venues in the future.
I know at football games there's even pressure to designate an area for smoking rather than just anywhere on the concourse. Smoking in our stands have been prohibited for years. And, I still remember when we could take a cooler into the football games. Darn, I'm getting old...

I had people smoking around me --- no one ever said anything about it.

I'm not talking about smoking with them. That's Delaware, it's still allowed there.

I, unfortanently, ended up in the People's Democratic Socialist Republic of Maryland where they tax you for the air you breathe. At least they're trying to tax me for clean air and not dirty air.

I'd like to see them try.

Sadly, Richmond's probably next. I'm sure King O'Malley and VA. Governer Kaine are plotting to ruin that as we speak.
