Got hate for GM? Why yes, yes I do...

In 2003 I bought a 2001 GMC Jimmy for my daughter just coming in off lease.
Being a EMT her Honda wasn't cutting it in the ice/snow belt where she lives.
A year ago the fuel pump went, things happen. Then last December it went again and again just last week. Got my money back this time, $260 and not another replacement from Auto Zone and went to get the 'good stuff' at NAPA, $400.33, 'merican cash money.
btw, care to know what a major PITA it is to drop the gas tank to get to these pumps located inside the tank? A POX ON THOSE THAT DESIGNED THIS!!
Get it together and it runs like krap. Little research on All-Data says fuel pressure regulator. Another hunnert $ in part and gaskets. Did I mention you have to pull the upper intake and be a 3 handed contortionist to replace the part?
Yesterday get it together, again, and it runs great. I love it when a plan comes together.:)

Yesterday afternoon while basking in the glow of victory and at 4:15pm my wife calls. Her car died coming home. Call AAA, they drop it off. Preliminary diagnostics reveals another ^%$# fuel pump!

Daughter has my truck, wife her Jimmy, son is laying low and I'm contemplating starting to drink, heavily.:beerbang:

If that's all you have had to do to a 9 year old car I would say you were lucky.

All these problems and you guys keep buying from the same manufacturer.

I gave up on GM-Junk years ago.

I once bought a new 78 Monte Carlo with a 305 V8. I had to buy three fuel pumps for that car as well, but changing that was as easy as 1, 2, 3, However, it soured my thoughts for GM and I vowed to never have one again. I changed my mind a decade later and bought an 88 Buick and never had a problem other than the antenna motor. I now have a Buick Rendezvous and love it as well. I've had problems with all of the different brands of cars I've owned. Hey, I even love my Dodge Stratus that I have now. Maybe I've just been lucky over the years.

Don't get me started on our 2002 firebird. Electrical isn't even funny.

Dad and I have dodges- Ram 1500 and Dakota.

Dad's HEMI is at 230,000 miles on the factory dodge champion spark plugs. They're such a PITA to get to, we never changed them.

GM could have easily used a in-line pump like the one in our race car. It's a real pain to drop the tank.

I don't count batteries, tires or brakes, so this is the first 'breakdown' of the Bonneville.

Guido, the Jimmy leads a hard life as it's being used as the 'first in' vehicle. Meaning my daughter responds in her Jimmy, the rescue truck/ambulance gets there 5-10 minutes later. Those are important minutes with severe injuries. She has white strobes front and rear, wig-wag headlights, red grille and dash strobes, radio and a siren. Second she responds to a call the towns insurance covers her until she 'clears' the scene.

The lights and siren also come in handy when you only have 5 minutes to get to the liquor store before it closes but don't ask me how I know,,,,:)

My 63 F100 has never left me on the side of the road since I bought it for $50 in 1984. :D Stop buying those crappy GM cars.

a bad placed oil filter really wont make me trade it in. I have 124,000 on it, and just put a few sets of tires and replaced the battary once. Never had any problems.

My work van was a 2003 Ford Windstar. I think everything on it has been recalled, I could have it full throttle going up hill and it loose speed. Finaly a women at work totaled it.

Dad had a 92 F150 with less then 100,000 on it. It would get hot, use oil, anddrink gas. We traded it for a trailler to haul the racecar.

My mom had an LTD with very low miles. Had all kinds of problems. Not sure of it's fate.

I can honestly say out of my family & friends no one has had a bad GM. Fords & Dodges on the orther hand....

I will say the 6cly power stroke is a good motor but it's an international. And dad does have an 2002 town car, but he got a good deal on it from his dad.
