Well, last night anyway. @ about 55mph in my 2008 GMC Sierra. Not much time to react. Hard on the brakes but still managed to take the hit to the right front of the truck. Don't have the estimate yet but it looks like it'll be a chunk of change. Not drivable. Pushed the bumper back to the tire. Need a new grill, headlight, bumper, fender, inner fender and what ever underlying structure is damaged. Could have been worse I guess. Well, not for the deer though.

Ouch. I trust that neither you nor mrs DPK were hurt. Poor deer. Did it have horns? Thats a TON of damage.

you need one of these

Damn DP that's tough. It's a damn fine truck.

It was due for a good detailing anyhow. They'll deliver it back to me in fine shape. I'm just glad it happened now and not during rv season. I only had it on the road yesterday to deliver a Christmas present for one of my wife's friends. Had it not been in the truck we'd have hit it with the Jeep. That would have been bad.

Depending on how outfitted the jeep is with off-road armor, might not have been phased :p

The way you have that thing outfitted it looks like it could take out a full grown male Rhino without a scratch.. :D

That sux, DPK.. Glad to know there were no personal injuries to occupants.
Bad deal for the deer. Should have looked both ways before crossing.

Yeah, it certainly sucked for the deer. He just made it through more than a months worth of hunting season between archery and rifle season. Too bad they aren't smart enough to stay off the road.

DAMMIT, BTDT. Swerved to avoid the deer, bounced off a guard rail down into the deep pucker brush.

Got mine last Sunday night. Out of all the deer around here, most of them small, I had to hit a big old buck. He was on a dead run across the highway and we had no time to swerve or stop. Did about probably 3 to 4 grand worth of damage. Waiting on body shop estimate, but the guy we have is an honest guy and treats us good.
We didn't get hurt and limped the car home as it was 11:30 pm, on a Sunday. Called the county mounties and they transfered us to state police, got a call back from on duty trooper and put all our duckies in a row before midnight. We have good insurance and figure we are lucky all around.
I have named my girl friends car "Buckshot".

Sorry to hear! Been there, done that. My ol' girl after our deer strike a couple of years ago. $6,700 in damage. Of course, it just happened to be a holiday weekend, 400 miles from home in Virginia. Was a nightmare! Silver lining? I got an SRT hood out of the deal.
