I just realized that i need a new power strip..or something.

Power Stereo Antenna 12VDC@200
Ball of light 120VAC@29W/250
Blacklight 120VAC@15W/125
Satelite Receiver 110VAC@35W/320
fan 120VAC@350
TV 120VAC@75W/625
Desk light 120VAC@60W/500
Auxilary CD player/burner 120VAC@800
DVD player 120VAC@??W
computer monitor 1 120VAC@??W
computer tower 1 120VAC@??W
computer surround sound 120@525
steering wheel 120VAC@400
computer tower 2 120VAC@400
computer monitor 2 120VAC@??W
Computer tower 2 cooling fan 120VAC@7W/60
--------
200+250+125+320+350+625+500+800+525+400+400+60+??+??+??+??= 4,555=4.555 amps...(hey, not much! lol)

so bout 5 amps on that end of the room...My subwoofer is rated 120VAC@80W so .67 amp and round it to .7 for the alarm clock..

5.255

2 60W closet lights = 120W = 1 amp

6.255

3 60W ceiling fan lights = 180W = 1.5 amps

7.755

and finally the ceiling fan..which, according to the manual, pulls about .33amps (dont say what speed)

8.088
lets see..8.088*120 = 970.5 watts. And running off estiates, the 4 unknowns add up to about 1358A (11.3 watts).

only 16 items (rarely, if ever going all at once) running off a single recpticle set cuz the other one is behind my dresser and the third is plugged into my subwoofer and alarm clock (18 items on entire circuit)....

Grand total? About 981 watts on one circuit...probably the highest of the house, rivaling the kitchen and service porch...

I GOTTA LOT O' POWER IN HERE! lol..

how much power do YOU have?

(note to self: find something to do when bored other than add up power usage of room)

Most circuit's are good for 2400 watts (20 amps).....

I make my own to meet my needs. It's alot safer than some of the crap in the stores. Plus with everything that uses tranformers these days you can't utilize the powerstrips properly. I go to the home center and get metal boxes and screw them to a block of wood. As far as surge protectors go...Never had one, and I don't trust them. I unplug my stuff in a storm. I also have a gfi in there

Meet my house. It was built by an idiot. Power and neutral are reversed on every single outlet in the house (!) that we've pulled. the breakers say 20 amps, but the wire in the walls is the fun part at this point.

Since the house was built by an idiot I would make sure the wire going to the 20 amp breakers are 12awg and not 14awg. It's very odd for bedrooms to have 12awg wire. If it's 14awg you should only have 15 amp breakers.

it shouldn't (for RF interference reasons), but it is. He we courteous enough to label what breaker every outlet went to and my entire room says 19.
