My GD will be in the Boston Marathon this year, her second time to run Boston. She really had to work hard to run it this year because of an injury she had in November. The following is from my GD:

I had a pretty yuck injury in November. I ruptured my plantar fascia in my right foot. Tore the tissue/ligament 80%. I had to wear a removble air cast (boot) for 3 weeks and had to take off from work. It was really painful when it ruptured. I was running on the track and heard a pop in my foot (that's when it tore/snapped apart) and then that night my foot swelled up and I couldn't bear any weight and it felt like a sharp glass was in my foot. I told Ryan something was really wrong. I luckily got into the Podiatrist the next day and he said yeah, you ruptured your plantar fasica which is supposedly rare. He was excited about it to see it. Me not so much.

I wasn't sure if I'd be running Boston. I had a great comeback after my injury. I started really running again in March and swam and biked from Nov-Feb to stay in shape, and I'm actually the fastest I've been. Injuries make you stronger mentally! I missed running SO much and I wanted to run Boston Badly! So I worked for it and am doing it!

I'm in wave 1 corral 9! Starting with all the
elite fast runners! Yikes!:)

No, we will not be there but will be rooting for her nontheless. She is really enthused about running Boston this year.

That's really great. She must be something else. She qualified well enough to start ahead of over 28,000 other runners. I wish her well and will be watching here for her results.

Thank you all. We are proud of the way she fought back from her injury. Back in November when she had the injury I had no idea she would still be able to run Boston. She was determined as she wanted to run it this year very badly as she thinks that it will get tougher to run in future years as she is getting older. (LOL, she doesn't know what old is) :)

GD's finish results at the Boston Marathon. GD finished in the top 3.5% of all female runners (16092) in the Boston and in the top 14.33% of all runners (35671). WOO-HOO.

Slight update to the results. I am going to tell my GD that she must have "sandbagged" during qualifying. She started in approx. position 8200 and finished in 5139 which means she overtook 3050 runners that qualified in front of her. :)

She did a FANTASTIC job, muggle. I know you are just busting your buttons.
Tell her congratulations for us.

BTW, she beat Marty Smith --- took him 3 hrs 59 mins. ROTFL

Actually, she told me that she was hoping for a finish of 3 Hr 5 - 9 Min. but that the last 6 miles she started cramping and could hardly feel her legs. But, you are correct, I am ecstatic.

Damn what a good run. The stats are really impressive. The 560th Woman, that's a feat within itself. Congratulations.
