Hello everyone.

I'm new to the forum, and just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. My real name is Joe, and I live in the Chicago area. I came at the "suggestion" of someone in my Xbox gaming clan who got tired of my racing-related posts. Silly mortal.

As you can tell, I'm a Dale Earnhardt Jr fan. I primarly like NASCAR, but I'm a fan of all forms of motorsport. I feel that no racing series is perfect, and they could all use improvements. But I like each for their own reasons.

I hope to make some new friends here, and find some people that enjoy racing as much as I do.

Welcome aboard. Can you give us the meaning of your id? BTW, Chicago is my favorite city...even though I had a van stolen while parked on LSD back in '77. Also, what do you think about the Bears for this year? Superbowl bound! :D

OK, you asked for it!

***NERD ALERT***

I've been using the Foehammer111 tag for years. Everything from video games, to forums, to e-mail addresses. I'm a huge Lord of the Rings nut. In those books, as well as the Hobbit, Gandalf has a sword named Glamdring in Elvish. Translated to the Common Tongue it means "The Foe Hammer."

111 is the age that Bilbo Baggins was when he through his big birthday party, and Frodo inherited the One Ring. It also happens to be my lucky number, and I think it just looks cool when written.

I used "thefoehammer" at first, but found that was too long for certain things. Then I found others were already using "foehammer" so I decided to add a number to the end that no one else would likely have. Thus "Foehammer111."

I've lived in the Chicago area most of my life. I also lived in Midlothian, VA (that's how I got hooked on NASCAR and racing) as well as Bellevue, WA.

Honestly, I don't really care for any sports other than racing. I might watch the Bears or any other local team if they're in the playoffs, but that's about it. Even then, I don't really care if they win or lose.

It's not that I hate the sports. They just don't interest me. Plus, I like racing fans better. In general they seem to be much more friendly, less drunk, and more interested in the sport. To me, fans of other sports just use it as an excuse to get smashed, and act like a dickhead.

Besides, I think it takes more skill and guts to drive a car 200mph 3 inches from the wall. "Ordinary people doing extraordinary things" To me, playing football for a living is like getting paid to play Chutes & Ladders. It's really just a kid's game since a kid can go in their backyard and play football. Little Johnny can't go in the street and play NASCAR.

Although, now that I said it playing Chutes & Ladders for a living would be sweet! :D

I grew up in Joliet, Elwood and Frankfort. I don't miss Joliet. What a crap hole.

LOL And that's where they built Chicagoland Speedway.

I was born downstate in Marion, IL. The first few years of my life were lived on a tomato farm before moving to Elmhurst, and eventually Naperville. I now live in Justice, IL.

I should also mention that politically, I'm a on the moderate left side. Although I don't associate with a political party, I like to think of myself as a Democrat version of Colin Powel or old-school John McCain.

I tend to be librel on social issues (gay marrage, stem cells, etc) but conservitive on economic and defense issues.

I know. I haven't been a big fan of the way "Jr Nation" has acted lately. Especially when it comes to Kyle Busch. He's going to be a dick no matter what anyone says, so just ignore him I say.

Most people that call themselves Jr fans do so because they were Dale Sr fans. I liked Dale Sr too, but Jr didn't inherit my support because of his father. I like Jr because he's not like his father.

Where Sr was aggressive to the point of wreaking someone or himself, Jr is level headed and sees the bigger picture. Where Sr played mind games (his making fun of Mark Martin's drinking problem was a real low point), Jr doesn't.

As far as I'm concerned, Jr could finish 43rd in every race for the rest of his career, and he would still be my favorite driver. It's because of his attitude that I like him. Not because of who his father was.

Jr Nation should stop looking for him to be the second coming of Sr. Because even if he wins 8 championships and 201 wins, he will never be the person that his father was.

I think my cousin Mike spent some time in Joliet, but his time there was not exactly voluntary. He claims that Illinois cops and judges have no sense of humor whatsoever.
