GTR / formule racing disallow traction controll?

I play GTR and the hard thing / fun thing on racing games are to be able to controll your car. But my friend is laughing at me and he says I should enable traction controll system and bracking controll or something. But do real time racing in real life like on tv disallow traction controll? since I see alot of professional people spinning on tv with their formules :confused:

What about automatic gearbox? do they allow automatic gearbox irl race?

Just curious about the diffrents between real life and virtual rules. Cause in GTR evolution servers can make their own rules. what about the official real time races?
 
I race GTR/GTR2 (the simbin game, not gran tourismo) with all aid disabled.
