HD is offering credit monitoring and ID Theft insurance free for a year if you used any card in a HD store since this Spring. I applied.

Carrying cash can also be dangerous. If you're robbed and you lose your cash, it's gone forever. At least with a card, you can call, cancel the card and dispute the charges.
POS waitress skimmed my credit card last year and used the info to buy a gift card at a gas station in Blythe.
I Columbo'd online and on the phone and obtained surveillance footage of the Mexican woman buying the gift card. I supplied the DVD footage to the local PD and to my credit card company. I did not have to pay for the fraudulent charge.
