Hi, I am doing a poll for my critical issue project about how people feel about gun control laws. And I was wondering if you could answer my few questions. You have to be 18 or older to fill out my poll.

1. What is you name?(Your name will not show up on my poll results.)

2. What is your profession?

3. What is your age?(You must be 18 or older.)

4. How effective are gun control laws in limiting crime? (Extremely effective) (Moderatley effective) (No effect at all) (Detrimental) (Don't know)

5. Do you feel existing gun control laws are enforced strictly enough? (yes) (no) (don't know)

6. Do you think gun control laws should be increased or decreased? Why?

Thank you.

1. Jeff (not really, but i don't usually give that kind of information out on the net)

2. Sales manager

3. 34ish

4. Detrimental

5. It depends on the law. Most are not enforced strictly enough. That is why they keep passing more and more laws that fly in the face of the second amendment.

6. Most should be eliminated. The best detourant to crime is a well-armed citizen who has been trained in the safe-effective use of said firearm. The ones that help keep guns out of the hands of criminals are ok, but not very realistic. A criminal (by definition!) doesn't particularly care what the law says. They will get one if they want one.

No effect at all

yes

Decreased. Criminals, as 4x said, don't obey gun laws. The only people that are affected by strict gun laws are law abiding citizens.

I can't be counted in this poll, since I'm not yet 18, but I want to put my 2 cents in. There shouldm't be any more gun control laws. A few are okay, but none should be added on top of what we have now. If the existing laws were actually enforced regularly, there would definitely be fewer problems than there are now.

1. you can call me Brooke.

2. RN

3.45+

4.detrimental

5.no

6. I don't think it matters either way. Law abiding folk will comply with the law, Criminals, by definition, are not law abiding, so all the laws in the world won't keep guns out of the hands of criminials.

4.no effect at all

2. I am a college student

3. 20 years old

4. no effect at all

5. No

6. In someways I think it should increase because you never know who is buying the gun. They should also put it in a safe place. Some people do not put it in a safe place and they leave it out. That is bad because children can see it and they don't know what it is and they can start playing with it. It will go off unless it has a saftey lock on it. But still it is bad to even have the gun out in the first place.

1. Dawn

2. Office Manager

3. 37

4. How effective are gun control laws in limiting crime?
No effect at all

5. Existing gun control laws are not enforced the way that they should be, therefore they wouldn't need to make more.

6. Neither. Enforce the ones in existence. But, everyone else that has responded has made the point that the criminal does not even care that there are laws, therefore they would not be committing a criminal act. I completely agree with the statement.

Hope this helps.

Just did a paper on this subkect for my class, so I am a little bit touchy on it still.

1. What is you name? Nate

2. What is your profession? Student

3. What is your age? 19

4. How effective are gun control laws in limiting crime? The criminals in our society will vote for any proposal to ban or destroy all firearms of any kind. Anyone who thinks they are making life difficult for criminals by passing new gun laws or by trying to get guns outlawed has lost touch with common sense. Knowing they are not going to run into homeowner with a gun would be very encouraging to your average burglar or thief. As far as having more gun laws is concerned, I will join the crowd and say that we are not enforcing the gun laws we have on the books now. If you watch the news or read the newspaper at all you have to of seen example after example of gun laws not being enforced. According to statistics, There is 1 police officer for every 23,000 people in this country. Now how can that 1 policeman be there to protect me? The constitution does not guarantee us protection from murder or crime. It does provide us with a means to protect ourselves with the right to bear arms. We must stop trying to take hand guns away from law abiding citizens and concentrate on taking them away from the criminals. Hand guns are here to stay and no legislation can rid the world of them. Think about it, there is a law making it illegal to own and use many drugs. The laws have not stopped the drug problem we have in this country.
5. Do you feel existing gun control laws are enforced strictly enough? no way

6. Do you think gun control laws should be increased or decreased? Why? I think you get the drift from question number 4

4. Gun Control Laws only limit the law abiding citizens. If you a willing to commit a crime do you really think you would be concerned over a gun law?
5. No, what laws are on the books now are not enforced fully in our legal system.
6. The only reason new gun laws are written is to gain votes, they do not protect the people from crime. The best gun control is practice, practice, practice. Become very confortable with your weapon of choice and you will master the control. Then the criminal will either give you the respect (stay away) or reap the benifits of your gun control.

I've been collecting firearms since I was 16 (39 years) and have used them both offensively, in the military, and defensively as a civilian. Not proud of having been put in either situation but damn glad they were available and I knew how to handle them. As more and more laws are added I get closer to becoming a criminal, not because I have broken a law but because someone decided I didn't have a right to own a firearm. I have done my part for my country and deserve the rights as given to me by our forefathers. when I violate these rights then by all means enforce the existing gun control laws upon me.
